"Protects well from ice and rock fall. took it on its maiden voyage on mount shasta and it did great even with high winds bringing down some baseball to softball sized ice chunks on our heads. I could not even tell i was wearing it, perfect amount of breathability and extremely light weight. Not the kind of helmet to bring backcountry skiing or anything like that, but when you use it for what its designed for its a damn good piece of gear."
"Wow, just wow, I’m so amazed. I was a bit skeptical when I saw the updated version of the vapor. Especially since I was a massive fan of the original design. I’ve never loved soft strap systems in climbing helmets, I’ve always found them to be difficult to adjust (especially over a hat) and just plain uncomfortable. But somehow black diamond has managed to hit the nail on the head with this suspension system. First of all, the vapor fit is exactly the same as the beloved original design (phew!) which fits my head perfect. And more importantly tends to fit over hats perfectly. Second, the suspension system is so incredibly comfortable, I don’t know how they have have managed to do this, between the comfortable design and light weight (lighter than the last version!!), I often completely forget I’m even wearing this helmet. Lastly, the adjustable straps are so easy to use, I actually prefer it more than the old hard plastic system. And even better, it adjusts perfectly and easily over a hat. Overall, I’ve seldom been this impressed by a piece of gear but this helmet has been worth every penny. Wish I didn’t wait so long to upgrade had I known this helmet is in fact a major improvement over the older generation. I think a lot of the reviews I had seen online had me a bit hesitant, but I just can’t agree with any of the negatives that they bring up. This thing is slick!!!"

"I originally purchased this helmet for when I want to take my ultra light paraglide setup out for a spin (usually off of the summit of a high mountain). However, I have found myself using this helmet for a lot more than that! It’s been climbing, gravel bike riding, and of course flying with me so far! So light I don’t even know I’m wearing it. My GoPro 13 blk weighs 3x what this thing does, and that’s saying something! 10/10 recommend!"
"This helmet is extremely light and well-ventilated, which is great, but there are a couple downsides: 1. The difference between the small and large sizes seems to be huge, and leaves people with medium-sized heads in a weird spot. 2. Perhaps because the large size is so large, the helmet interferes with sunglasses more than any other I've worn. This can be an issue if I have to wear both for 3 hours or more."
"The old vapor without the foam is much more durable and shows dirt and grime much less. I understand the appeal of the lighter helmet, but personally I find I can cut weight elsewhere in the alpine. The protection a solid helmet provides also gives some warm fuzzies. I would appreciate if Black Diamond made a model in all foam like the Petzl Sirroco, and a model less "comp" / "speed mountaineering" oriented and had it be a full hardshell. Fit is phenomenal much like the old model, but I would appreciate a one handed magnet buckle (even though they can pick up some iron from the dirt) for when I am wearing gloves."
