REPAIR, REPURPOSE, RECYCLE

The Black Diamond Reroute program breathes new life into outdoor equipment through expert repair and thoughtful refurbishment. Our mission is to ensure that less gear finds its way into landfills and instead embarks on a new adventure.

For the past 30 years, Black Diamond has made some of the best outdoor equipment for skiing, climbing, and mountains sports. Now, we are adding to that goal, keeping our gear out there on the trail and out of landfills. The life cycle of outdoor equipment used to end with worn, broken, and used gear ending in the landfill. At Black Diamond, we are committed to a different route for what happens to your old and used gear. At its core, Reroute is a repair program. We stand by the gear we make, but gear does not last forever and pushing your limits, pushes the limits of gear, too.

REPAIR

We are building enhanced in-house repair services for BD products outside of warranty, as well as self-repair guides and videos, and a spare parts program—all designed to keep BD gear in use and out of landfills.

REPURPOSE

Not all gear can be repaired or recycled, but that does not mean it has to end up in a landfill. To divert waste, we are creating upcycled items created entirely from retired webbing, scrap material, and other materials returned to BD by customers. Keep an eye out for upcycled dog leashes, toiletry bags, and other products sewn up by our Reroute team!

RECYCLE

We are piloting the outdoor industry’s first carabiner to trekking pole recycling program. After a life of climbing, Black Diamond carabiners will be melted down and transformed into trekking poles. This is the first post-consumer recycled materials program of its kind. You can drop off your old and worn carabiners at your local Black Diamond retail store and receive a 10% off coupon.
