"When your fingers are numb and you have big clunky gloves on it is so much easier to set up a rap and I can flip the brake strands up between the 8 and the strands from the anchor if I need to remove pro. Old school but big, fat frozen ropes-no problem."

"It’s great for simple rappelling, I’ve used in in that fashion for years now and I’ve bought 2. But as I’ve gotten into technical rescue and more technical ropes stuff, the ability to easily tie off on the line is imperative. I cannot do so with this belay device itself, so I have a separate one for this reason. However if newbies that just wanna rappel, I’d recommend this highly."
