THE HISTORY OF MAGNETRON

Our passion for climbing and innovation led us to create Magnetron Technology back in 2013. A revolution in auto-locking carabiner design, the original Magnetron was the first triple locking carabiner to use magnets, creating a secure locking carabiner that was actually easy to use with one hand. For a time, the Magnetron was discontinued, but through continued innovation, we brought it back! Featuring a new design and the same ultra-secure and easy-to-use functionality.

Super cool 'biner!

"I have wanted one of these magnetic carabiners for a while! My partner got one a few years ago and the carabiner has been unavailable for quite some time. I have always used a carabiner with a gate for my belay device (ATC-Pilot) and wish this carabiner also had a gate. It is also a little large for my hands (for reference I wear a size 4.5 ring). The magnet is strong! My partner's magnetron is a skosh weaker than this new one, so it's good to know it will hold up but get a bit easier to open. I paid way too much for the carabiner, but it's awesome. More colors please Black Diamond :)"

"I had to wait for a restock after this carabiner sold out, and it did not disappoint! The Magnetron mechanism is incredibly smooth, making opening and closing effortless. No more fumbling with the locking mechanism, and less chance of accidentally dropping it. It’s intuitive, secure, and makes handling the carabiner so much easier."

I LOVE this thing

"I have been using this on my personal anchor system, and it’s amazing. It takes literally one second to undo and I can do it with one hand ridiculously easily. It is just so insanely convenient. It’s a little on the heavier side but it is a big carabiner which makes it really easy to handle and IMO, very worth it. I read about how this is Alex Honnold’s fav carabiner ever and how Babsi loves it too, and I saw how fast it sold out when it got stocked on BD. I just ended up getting soo psyched about it that when I saw it a bit cheaper online I was like… YES PLEASE. Plus, the pink and black is a great look. High key a ridiculously expensive carabiner ngl. But if on sale or if giving it as a gift or smth I would totally do it"

"I wanted the Magnetron since I saw the advertisement for it. I finally got my hands on one and wow!! I used to use a triple twist lock carabiner and the Magnetron blows that one out of the water. It’s so easy to use and extremely secure. I don’t worry about my Neox coming off the carabiner. Highly recommend this!!"

"Best locking carabiner I've ever used. The carabiner shape is perfect for smooth rappelings, great as a master point. Locking mechanism is extremely easy to use and bomb proof. Only downside is I only use them in the summer due to the magnets potentially interacting with avy beacons."

The Best locker on your harness

"I have the previous generation magnetron and absolute love it. Its hands down the quickest locking action you can find on the market. Even after many years of use, it has not lost it locking ability. When I saw that they were coming out with a new version, I had to snag one for myslef and my wife! I like the bright pink gate color and the updated texture for the magnet latches. Definitely grab one before they become a hopeful return in the future."

Best belay/rap biner for outdoor climbing there is

"So glad that this biner is back. I love using it for belaying and rapping because it is less bulky than a traditional twistlock carabiner, and is even a hair lighter than the Triple Lock. You can really tell the difference when you need to spin in around (like when belaying from the shelf of an anchor) and do not need to deal with the fat locking mechanism on the gate getting stuck. Pick one up!"
