"This is my 3rd pair of these pants. I am a ski patroller, and I get about 3 seasons out of these pants. They stretch, which is nice, and hold up well. I am 6’3” and have always gotten the same size, large. This time around, they shortened the inseam and tightened up the waist. I couldn’t wear them, and couldn’t return as I had pulled the tags off. Had to give them away. Be cautious- the sizing is smaller than before."
"Fits as expected thought it would be a little more stretchy though"
"These pants are great. I’m 6’2”, 195, 36” waist and 32” inseam - XL are perfect. I have room to move and I am loving it. Large pants are way too restrictive. I like the pockets, and the materials feel great. These pants are all I’ll ever buy"
"I love the cut and fit of the Dawn Patrol but the Recon comes up a little short for touring. 1) While carrying a transceiver in one pocket and some food in the other, the pants have a tendency to slip down unless I sinch up with a tight belt. The Dawn Patrol has suspenders that solves this problem. I had to create attachments to the belt loops to use some after-market suspenders. 2) The Dawn patrol has an extra pocket which is really helpful for carrying things like keys of a knife. The Recon does not have this feature although the two large pockets are functional. 3) The pants of the Recon are too baggy, especially at the bottom, and tends to catch on branches, etc. The Recon works well for lift-assist skiing."
"Good quality. Solid and durable. However, the fit is quite tight, even in size Large (6'2", 230 lbs)."
"Great pants in terms of material, comfort, and features, but there’s a design flaw that affects the waterproofing. In rainy conditions, the pockets fill with water because the gusset isn't sealed; water just leaks right in."
"Really like these pants so far. It rained at Brighton last week and I never got wet."
"I bought these Black Diamond ski pants expecting durability and solid construction, but they failed on day one. On my very first day on the slopes, a seam ripped open. No crash, no snag, no unusual stress. The seam literally just popped open. I contacted Black Diamond thinking this would be a straightforward warranty issue, but they refused to honor it, saying the failure isn’t a “known defect. ” That’s an appalling response for a premium brand, especially when a $500 product fails immediately under normal use. Between the poor build quality and the unwillingness to stand behind their product, I’ve completely lost confidence in Black Diamond, and I’d strongly caution others to look elsewhere."
"I bought these for a recent ski trip, they did not disapoint. Lightweight and breatheable, they had just enough stretch and were comfortable all day long."
"Great material, great fit, could use another smaller front pocket in addition to the large front pockets"
