"I’ve had my First Light tent since 2018. It’s been up Mount Shuksan, Mount Baker, Mount Adams, and more. I’ve had it in one major windstorm up on Mount Adams, where the wind was blowing so hard that I truly did not sleep at all. I thought my First Light would collapse, so I took the shoelaces out of my mountaineering boots and crisscrossed them through the loops inside the First Light. The tent did not budge. The poles did not break or bend, and the tent stayed in place. That’s when I realized this tent was exceptional. It has been through enough snow and windstorms that I truly trust it. That brings us to today. I’ll be up in the mountains soon; however, it’s supposed to rain, and all the reviews I’ve read tell me that this tent does not withstand rain very well. However, I really need a tent that can seal out the wind, unlike some of my three-season tents, so I’ve now decided to test it myself. I put it outside yesterday at 7 AM on September 24 in North Carolina as a storm approached. It is now 7 PM that same day, and it has experienced light mist, somewhat moderate rain, and extremely heavy rain during this 12-hour period. The tent did not leak. That’s right. In my experience, it does not take on water. I have seam-sealed it. I’ll attach some pictures. I took my time and kept the sealant directly on the seams themselves, so you can hardly notice it. That makes this tent my go-to, even for ultralight packing. It’s light enough that I can still keep my pack under 10 pounds. The reliability of the First Light has made this my go-to tent. I do have the vestibule, but it’s not amazing, so I wouldn’t necessarily recommend that portion of it. But for the tent itself? Perfect score for me."

"Very easy to put it up, especially when it’s raining. Because you put the pole from inside the tent not outside like others."
"Both the website and the instructions for this tent state that 1 tube of Silnet (needed for seam sealing) are included with the tent. My tent did not come with Silnet, so I'll have to make a special trip to get some. I can see from other reviews that this has happened with others too. It really should be included. But at a very minimum BD should update the instructions and web site if this is not included. Not a good way to get started with a new product."
"Camped out at 11,000 feet on Long's Peak on X-Mas Day fifteen years ago. Howling winds and drifting snow, below zero temps. Easy set-up. Plenty of room for one plus gear. Dark at 4 light at 7. Spent my time drinking Jamisons and thinking about the tiny canister of gas that made it possible for me to be there."
"A fantastic tent when used for its intended purpose. It's pretty tight for two, but very light weight and holds up well in bad condition. Highly recommend to seal the seams which adds a lot of waterproofness"

"If I'm not on a bike tour somewhere in the world, I am more than likely at my home in Nepal or Colorado. I am always on the lookout for a lightweight well-made, high quality, self-standing and weather proof tent. Yes, I use this while on my bike and when away from home in either the U. S. or Nepal, I find it extremely useful to have this tent sitting in the bottom of my pack ready-to-use at a moment's notice. When I let people know that I don't need my own room, I'm suddenly an invited guest! I am a huge supporter of Bibler/Black Diamond tents and have used several models extensively around the world for decades."
"I'm pretty much just a weekend warrior and go car camping. I used it when the weather dropped around 50°f and was pretty comfortable. The only issue I have is I wish it was an inch longer or I could stake out the back of the tent and pull it back some my. I'm 6ft 1 and I have no extra room between my head and the tent."
