The perfect touring bag

"The only bag I’ve tried that actually fits my back size! It doesn’t come up too high and hit the back of my head unlike most “small” sized bags. The pocket system is fantastic and fits everything I need for a long tour. It packs down well for smaller tour days and has been a terrific bag for all my ski needs."

Dawn Patrol 32 size Small

"Apparently, I don't know how to measure my torso. I originally ordered the size M/L, but that was too long for me, I am 5' 8". I returned it and the S/M fits perfectly. The pack carries gear and skis comfortably. It fits more than enough for a day plus of touring. There is not enough space for a winter sleeping bag, but if I strapped it to the outside, I could probably use it overnight. Hut trips would probably be fine. The pack is well designed, with an easy access Avalanche pocket, and easy access via the back panel to the main storage compartment."

Deborah B. (5/5)

Efficient Pack

"The pack is light weight and holds all the gear needed for a wintery patrol day."

Great pack, bad waist buckle

"Crazy to me they got rid of the old waist buckle. The last season Dawn Patrol had a metal buckle that was unbreakable and never clogged with snow or ice. This version comes with the standard buckle, which is inferior because of how it can freeze over. The only way I've found to thaw it is by putting it in my mouth for what seems like more than a minute. It's sad to see Black Diamond go backwards on this!"

great pack

"quality unit. I was thinking it may be too big. . . but im glad I went with this size. the non-black color is definalty fun too. I'm very happy with the product"

"Great size. Perfect for a day out with only moderate layers needed. Side pockets are large and versatile."

Patrick S. (5/5)

Great Day Pack!

"It's got all the bells and whistles I need for day trips. The snow gear pocket easily fits my probe and shovel. I really appreciate being able to unzip the back panel so I can access all my gear easily. Carries all the essentials and keeps them well organized!"

Maggie F. (5/5)

Great day bag.

"I’ve used this for 40 hours on skis now and have zero complaints. Major upgrade from the last generic Osprey backpack I was using so that my bias this but here’s the run down. PNW based. -I’m 6’4” and a large fits great. -Back panel access is great super easy to get anything in your bag. -Top pocket access and size is perfect as well. -Shoulder soft flask pocket is a little odd but super nice on the skin track. I’ve used it way more than I thought I would. -Hip pockets are a good size and not in the way of my arms which was a big problem with the last backpack I had. -AVY tool pocket is easy to get to and not blocked when using any of the outer straps to hold things. Could it be lighter yes, but I’ll take the extra weight for the time savings and organization any day. Definitely would recommend for quick laps and all day tours."

Bryson O. (5/5)

Best backpack ever

"I’ve used this pack for 2 weeks and it’s the most comfortable bag I own. Light and super spacious, fits everything you could ever need. Next time I’ll get the colored one for sure :)"

Jacinta D. (5/5)

Great for backcountry!

"Had my eye on this for a while but couldn't decide between the 25 and 32. Went with the 32 which was definitely the better choice for me as it fits the many layers I tend to want when I go backcountry skiing. Took uphilling and cross-country skiing last week and really love how easy it is to plop down on the snow and access everything from the back hatch. The goggle compartment on top is large and will protect your goggles or sunglasses. The fold out helmet holder is simple to use. The pocket is great for probe + shovel and snacks. Overall, I'm really happy with this bag."
