La nouvelle Astro 300 est dotée d'un boîtier compact actualisé ergonomique et d’un design à volume réduit offrant un meilleur équilibre. Elle est suffisamment petite pour servir de lampe d'appoint mais assez puissante pour éclairer un rappel improvisé ou un sentier la nuit. Le réflecteur actualisé permet de proposer une puissance lumineuse de 300 lumens. L’Astro nouvelle version peut désormais être alimentée de deux façons, soit par batterie rechargeable BD 1500 Li-ion soit par trois piles standard AAA. L'Astro dispose de modes variateur et clignotant permettant de personnaliser l'éclairage en fonction des besoins. Résistant efficacement aux intempéries, le boîtier ne craint ni la pluie ni la neige.

"I hardly ever need a tutorial or manual to get something started, but this has the worst user interface and documentation imaginable. The tutorial assumes you already have the batteries installed, the Quickstart guide says nothing about it. I’m manipulating everything as firmly as possible without breaking, it still yields no way to get the batteries installed."

Cannot open battery compartment. Very poor design

"72 year old fingers CANNOT open the battery compartment. My husband ripped his thumb nail bed trying to pry it open. I couldn’t budge it. I will never buy Black Diamond again. I am considering returning it. These batteries better last 10 years because I can’t open the compartment to change them."
