The ultimate fast-and-light protective layer, the Deploy 3L is an extremely packable, fully-taped, waterproof shell and your insurance policy for any mission in the mountains.
Although it originated as a race layer for mountain runners, the Deploy 3L Shell is ideal for multi-pitches deep in the backcountry, mile-long ridge traverses, and other alpine objectives where every ounce counts. The 10D face fabric is super light yet waterproof, features full-taped seams, and its minimalist design keeps it streamlined with elastic cuffs and an internal mesh pocket for storage. Stuff the Deploy in your pack anytime you’re heading out, and know you’ve got a protective layer if you need it.
Black Diamond’s waterproof/breathable/windproof solution. BD.dry™ 3L ... Black Diamond’s waterproof/breathable/windproof solution. BD.dry™ 3L face fabrics are treated with a DWR solution without intentionally added PFAS and these fabrics have a hydrophilic membrane that allows water vapor to transfer through, making them waterproof, yet breathable. Applied to the backside of this fabric is a third layer, jersey backer, that feels comfortable next to the skin and allows moisture to turn to vapor before passing through the hydrophilic membrane. "This is by far my favorite piece of gear...ever. It's incredibly waterproof, packs down to nothing and weighs nothing. I have it with me at all times. 10 out of 10."
