From the beginning, making a difference on behalf of our fellow community of users has been a core part of Black Diamond.

Today, we are more committed to those guiding principles than ever, protecting and preserving the recreation lands that we love so dearly by focusing on making our products, manufacturing processes, supply chain, facilities and marketing materials more sustainable and less impactful. Equally important to us is our continued outspoken advocacy for conservation, equality, inclusion, and access causes—locally, regionally and globally—as well as philanthropic support to grassroots conservation and access-focused nonprofit groups.

TODAY, WE ARE FOCUSED ON KEY THREE AREAS:

Protecting wild places
Creating an inclusive outdoor community
Building a more sustainable business

PROTECTING WILD PLACES

Wild natural landscapes and public lands are intrinsically connected to the life-defining pursuits of climbing, skiing and mountain sports that our company was built to serve. These sacred places are where we develop and test gear, where we find community and where we push ourselves, and we are committed to helping preserve this precious resource for the next generations.

Advocacy on the Hill with the Access Fund: BD Team members and athletes went to Washington DC with the Access Fund to get congressional support for the Protect America’s Climbing (PARC) Act.

Through on the ground action, phone calls and letters, and the activation of our community, we were able to get the PARC Act passed.

COMMUNITY AND INCLUSION

Here at Black Diamond, we are firm believers in the power of outdoor spaces, and their ability to change lives for the better. Because we have been positively shaped by our own outdoor experiences, we are committed to making those same experiences more accessible to marginalized communities.

AMGA BIPOC SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM:

In an attempt to create more visible leaders from marginalized communities, Black Diamond has been working with the American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA) to offer fully sponsored BIPOC programs. Since the launch of this program in 2020, BD has provided 55 scholarships resulting in:

34 SPI Guides (many using a second grant to do their SPI Certification Course)

5 Apprentice Rock Guides

1 Apprentice Alpine Guide

1 Apprentice Ski Guide

In 2024, we sponsored 6 individuals through the BIPOC SPI Program which included 100% coverage of course tuition, free black diamond product, and a travel stipend.
