"You get what you see. It locks in real well to the trekking pole. Not much effort to take it out either but feels sturdy. Its a noticeable additional weight to the top of the pole and you know its there when you are walking. It cuts and grabs into snow and ice pretty well. I have not had to self-arrest with the whippet though. Not sure how the trekking pole would truly effect its use."
