"I have an older pair of Alpine FLZ poles that did not have these baskets and was looking to get some for normal hiking/backpacking days when there was no chance of snow. The baskets acted as intended, mainly to help stow away in a pack during scrambling sections easier, but also prevented the errant pole plant from slipping between rocks."
