"I am always happy getting new BD trekking poles. When I visit my daughter in Colorado I like to do some 14ers and recently while going down Pike's Peak, going over a big rock in a decline my no-name pole broke and I slamed my left side hard against a rock. Later I found out that I had fractured two ribs. Never again, left these Pursuit FLZs in my daughters house for my next adventures. Not worth saving money and not getting quality gear like BD."
"I have been using the Black Diamond Pursuit Adjustable trekking poles in the mountains of Guatemala, where conditions are very different from the snowy environments many trekking poles are designed for. During the rainy season, our mountain trails can become extremely deep and sticky with mud. The poles have been very comfortable, sturdy, and easy to adjust. I especially like being able to change the length depending on whether I am going uphill, downhill, or crossing different types of terrain. I discovered something interesting when using them in very deep mud. When the tip sinks too deeply, the mud can create a strong suction effect, making the pole difficult to remove. On one occasion, pulling it straight up caused the pole to come apart. However, I discovered that moving the pole slightly from side to side first broke the suction, allowing me to remove it easily without the pole coming apart again. I am also going to try the larger star-shaped snow baskets that came with the poles. Although they are designed for snow, I think they could be very useful in our subtropical mountain environment because they should help prevent the tip from sinking too deeply into the mud. Overall, I really like these poles. They are comfortable, versatile, and feel very well built. I think they are an excellent choice for hiking in Guatemala and other subtropical mountain environments. Black Diamond has plenty of experience designing gear for snow and winter conditions. Here in Guatemala, however, our big challenge during the rainy season isn't snow — it's mud! 😄"

I'm 6'00"" and the M/L poles were terrible for Grand Canyon hike due to limited adjustment length. These are suitable for hiking on flat land and uphill, but not downhill. Had switched from Leki to BD and do not recommend."

"Finished a 6 day circuit of havisupai falls, antelope canyon, bryce canyon, and Angel's Landing in Zion. The poles held up fantastic and have so much more life ahead of them. Great to fold down and store in a backpacking pack for flights and cross country travel!"
