the Recon Stretch Shell is built with durable BD.dry™ 3L stretch nylon fabric with a DWR finish without intentionally added PFAS. With one chest pocket for essentials and two mesh internal drop pockets for skins or extra layers, the Recon features ample storage, while the jacket’s removable powder skirt adds versatility for variable conditions. The Recon also has pit zip vents for easy temperature regulation on the skin track, a waterproof front zipper, and a ski-helmet-compatible hood for added protection on storm days. "This jacket is everything you'd want in a ski shell. Its features are equivalent to other competitors, however the level of quality and execution feels a step above the rest. It keeps me absolutely dry on POW/snowmaking days and gives me confidence when I inevitable eat it in the trees. I paired it with the Recon pants and could not be more pleased with my new kit after a season of use!"

"Love the look and the fit. Lots of functional features and pockets. I am 6'3" and 210 lbs with long arms and the size Large fits me really well. 2 stars due to durability. I have a small tear after second day of use resort skiing. Must have been from a low velocity fall onto snow. Black Diamond has recommended that I repair it myself with tenacious tape, or mail it to them for repair at my own expense. Pretty disappointing for a brand new/high end jacket."

"I’m 6’1” 185lbs. I bought a medium. My initial thoughts on this jacket when I first got it: 1. The sleeves are too long. 2. It’s too baggy. 3. The hem is too low in the seat area. Updated thoughts after a year of skiing in BC. The sleeve length is perfect for fully extending over ski gloves, keeping you dry and warm. The relaxed fit allows for effective layering for those cold days at the peak. The lower hem provides great protection from the wind and wet chair lifts. This is a well designed ski jacket that is legit waterproof. We got absolutely dumped on with rain in Whistler last month and I stayed bone dry the entire time for all four days. And it dried super fast when hung. The hood is also top notch, fitting securely over my helmet, not budging an inch even in intense winds. Don’t get caught up in the Gore-Tex or nothing hype. This jacket is just as good as the GT featured competitors. And if you can get it on sale, it’s a steal. Awesome product!"
"Very comfortable ski jacket. The material has a nice stretch to it making it easy to move around in. Good size vents that are super easy to open and close with how smooth the zippers are. With ski gloves on zippers getting caught on the jacket material can be super annoying but these zippers work better than any other ski jackets i've had (small things that didn't go overlooked)."
