The HighLine features our premier BD.dry waterproof/breathable protection with a backing fabric to help regulate core temperature as you move. With fast and light movement in mind, the Highline is built to move with you, and features an adjustable hood, shoulder seams with added range of motion, and a lowered neckline to facilitate movement with a pack on. Two chest pockets, two hand pockets, one interior stash pocket, and pit zips round out the feature set on this alpine shell built for the mountains.
Black Diamond’s waterproof/breathable/windproof solution. BD.dry™ 3L face fabrics are treated with a DWR solution without intentionally added PFAS and these fabrics have a hydrophilic membrane that allows water vapor to transfer through, making them waterproof, yet breathable. Applied to the backside of this fabric is a third layer, jersey backer, that feels comfortable next to the skin and allows moisture to turn to vapor before passing through the hydrophilic membrane. "Great jacket, really well made and the materials are high end. I'm 5'8" 155lbs and i got a medium. The small might fit me. The medium is incredibly long and while this might provide more coverage, I'm not certain the extra length is necessary. worn with a harness one can manage the extra by using the draw string and it works well."
"I’m 70 inches, 185, wide shoulders and a large fits great. BD put some thought into making this harness compatible with high pockets and a long torso. Super lightweight with a tiny bit of stretch. Nice adjustable hood. Tightly sealed zippers and generous pit zips. Everything seems dialed and doesn’t look like it will flake apart like the previous generation of shells. Bright colors are a plus."
"Their shells fit really well -- notably they are long enough in the body, which is key for a taller person. Great weight, too -- light enough to not be a burden, yet thick enough to be a real cold weather shell."
"Jacket is perfect for climbing all day and fits perfect. The only downside is the hood elastic popped out when I tightened it ever so gently. There’s no way that elastic is able to be rethreaded without taking apart the hood. Very sad day!"
"I was ski touring in a rain shell, until I picked up the Highline Stretch Shell. It's a game changer for sure. Waterproof, breathable and lightweight. The fit is relaxed, and so far I would highly recommend. I'm 6'1" and Medium fits me perfectly in almost all Black Diamond jackets."
"Primarily bought this for spring skiing at it's worked out great. Fits true to size but roomy enough for some layering underneath for colder mornings or when it's still chilly from winds if temperature goes up in the afternoons. When it gets warmer in afternoons without winds the pit zips are great for making comfort adjustments. It also folds up compact enough to fit in a small daypack or fanny pack if it gets too warm to keep wearing."
"Clearly high quality material and has kept me very dry in a complete downpour. I’m 5’6” and the medium is a bit long in the sleeves and torso but that actually works fsirly well as it keeps more of me dry and allows layering"
"Excellent product so far. Used it down to -18C in BC. Spent 3 days in the mountains with this as my outer shell. It released moisture well and I did not have any condensation buildup on the inside as I have with other shells. The stretch is great, and love the higher pockets that remain accessible when I had my harness on. Highly recommend."
"I wanted to love this jacket but it's so long! Great if you need a lot of extra length for more protection but to much material in the way for clipping draws back onto loops and almost looks silly when I am not wearing it with a harness. I am 6'1" without a crazy long torso but I might see if I can take this to a seamstress for surgery to remove 4" off the bottom. Another preference is to lose the pit zips. I typically select more minimalist shells without pit zips though I understand this isn't a minimalist shell either. Everything else is perfect. Love the bright blue! Materials feel amazing and keep the crinkle down."
"Recently moving to the Pacific Northwest, I under estimated the need for a top performance rain jacket for outdoor activities. This is absolutely the jacket to have. This jacket is breathable, waterproof to the most extreme waterfall (and rainfall), keeps you dry and warm. A must add to enhance your enjoyment of the any rainy season. My buddy said his jacket was waterproof - look at the difference."
