Built with mountain running in mind, this ultralight, highly technical, waterproof layer provides security and protection from the elements in a packable design.

Although it originated as a race layer for mountain runners, the Deploy 3L Shell is ideal for multi-pitches deep in the backcountry, mile-long ridge traverses, and other alpine objectives where every ounce counts. The 10D face fabric is super light yet waterproof, features full-taped seams, and its minimalist design keeps it streamlined with elastic cuffs and an internal mesh pocket for storage. Stuff the Deploy in your pack anytime you’re heading out, and know you’ve got a protective layer if you need it.

BD.dry™ 3L face fabrics are treated with a DWR solution without intentionally added PFAS and these fabrics have a hydrophilic membrane that allows water vapor to transfer through, making them waterproof, yet breathable. Applied to the backside of this fabric is a third layer, jersey backer, that feels comfortable next to the skin and allows moisture to turn to vapor before passing through the hydrophilic membrane. "I've used this a few times ski-mountaineering and running in a mixed bag of conditions, rain, heavy wet snow, hail/ sleet, and high wind events. Its has served me well so far, though I haven't had it for very long so I cannot say how durable it is. Overall, a great shell with all the features you want (other than pit zips for those warmer days) and nothing you don't. Love the fit of the jacket and the wrist cuffs."
