Favorite sun hoodie

"This is my favorite sun hoodie so far. I’ve tried three other brands (Patagonia, OR and an off brand) and this one beats them all. Good breathability in the armpits and the quarter zip helps shed a lot of heat! The fabric is a little heavier than others that I’ve tried but you can’t win at everything. Price is a bit high but it’s top notch stuff so you pay for what you get."

Best Sunshirt for Climbing

"IMO the best sunshirt on the market for climbing. Nice and cool when hot with underarm vents that work great when doing any high intensity activity. Stretches to move with you while climbing. When doing other activities, the only downside is the hood doesn’t provide a lot of face coverage like most sun shirts but adding a hat fixes all those problems"

Favorite sun shirt

"I have tried numerous sun shirts over the years after finally deciding I was tired of getting burned and/or dealing with sunscreen. These are the lightest I have found while still offering great sun protection. I have gone backpacking for multiple days wearing one in alpine conditions and they have always served me well. Love the vented sides for hiking/climbing on especially hot days. The chest pocket is a small consideration, but nice for stashing an ear bud case or water bottle cap. They are not quite thick enough to keep mosquitoes from biting through. I have treated them with permethrin spray without any degradation or discoloration The price is at the top end of the market, but the three I have are by far my most used shirts during the summertime for any sort of outdoor activity."

Lux Sun Protection

"The material is light and breathable while protecting the wearer from the sun. I wear the hood over the helmet, and there's no restriction. The sleeves are long enough to fit under cloves for full protection. After a few days in the mountains plus washes, it still feels and smells brand new."

Nice feel, looks good, durability tbd

"Like the fit and feel, definitely will breathe well and be versatile in lots of seasons. Within the first wear easily caught on a branch and ripped a bit, so durability is likely the main downside. For this price point would expect it being more robust."

Christopher L. (4/5)

Great weight, super comfortable

"Just the right weight for an active day. Easy to stuff into a pack because it's so light, but it provides a nice layer of warmth when I'm active and in and out of the shade."

Fabric Got A Snag On First Wear

"Brought this on a trip and on the first wear got a snag when wearing a backpack. The cooling feature worked well and dried quickly after spending all day out in 100 degree weather."

Barely There Feel

"Feels like nothing and blocks the sun. Perfect for me who runs hot, sweats profusely, and sunburns easily. Fries in a few minutes laying in the sun. Feels just like new. Would definitely recommend!!"

Nathan M. (5/5)

Effective

"Cooling and an effective sun shade. Not particularly fashionable or form fitting, but was very comfortable for wearing under bike pads in 100 degree heat."

robert d. (4/5)

Ideal for summer mountains and beach

"This hoody is up to the usual Black Diamond quality. Very comfortable. I did not feel like it caused me to be hotter than if I had worn short sleeves and it kept the sun off my upper body and arms (and head/neck when I pulled up the hood)."
