At BD, our passion for innovation is only matched by our desire to use our equipment and experience the success it was designed for. From the world’s first wire-gate carabiner to our cornerstone Camalots, we have always designed gear that enables climbers to push the limits of our sport.
Reviewers love the HotWire as a light, smooth-action wiregate that's easy to handle, even with gloves or when pumped. They use it on alpine draws, quickdraws, for racking and everyday tasks, and some are still using HotWires bought decades ago. The only critique: one reviewer found it a bit large for racking trad gear and suggested a smaller wiregate for that job.

"Classic john right here, a must for trad draws"
"Picked up a handful of these for alpine QuickDraws in my glacier rescue kit. Very smooth and secure action while being very light. Also useful for securing gear to your pack on the approach on on the peak."
"These are a bit larger than BD's other offerings, but these have the best clipping experience of any of the carabiners I've tried from a number of different brands."
"Great addition to my kit"
"This is my favorite carabiner. The color is nice if I need to use it for a bail carabiner or if I just use it for gear."
