What customers are saying

★ 4.5 · 569 reviews

Reviewers, including ski patrollers and guides, call the Guide Gloves warm, durable and well built, with leather palms, a removable liner and enough dexterity for long days skiing, climbing and working in the cold. Many are on their second or third pair. The biggest critique by far is sizing: the gloves run small, and many recommend ordering a size up. Others note a stiff break-in period, and some found their fingers got cold in very low temperatures.

Reviews

Nearly a decade of use

"I am reviewing these gloves based on my previous pair of the exact same gloves. I am a ski instructor and have used these gloves in all sorts of conditions. I have skied with them approximately 250 hours each year for the last 9 years. They are incredibly warm, and tough. Sub-zero temps are the only times I would have preferred a mitten. They started to show wear a couple of years ago and took a lot of additional abuse to get to the warn look they have now. Although I will retire the exact pair from professional use, I will still use at home when outside in the winter. I’m slightly concerned with the new pair as the leather feels softer and maybe more prone to wear. But time will tell, and hopefully I can get another 9 years out of this pair."

Best purchase in 2026

"Purchased for high alpine and mountaineering. They are extremely comfortable, warm, and the dexterity is excellent. I love everything about these gloves - removable mitt, coreloft insulation, and wrist strap. I would highly recommend for any cold weather activities"

Sizing

"This is my second pair of gloves and they do last a long time, but I just have a question. I used to take a large at first ordered an extra large from amazon and they were too small so I had to go with a XXL and they seem to fit fine ???"

New Gloves

"My gloves came in a few weeks ago and the quality of them are just top notch. It came with water proofing that I applied and I have started to break them in. I can wait for ski season to hit, but I can tell these are going to be extremely warm."

Not duarable

"Started great but do not stand up to regular use. I've skied for 1. 5 years in mine and they are exploding. Multiple seems failing, thumb patch hole. Just not durable enough for anyone that skis a lot. BD offered me 40% off replacement cost but they ship from the US direct so basically ends up being only about 15$ off. Not satisfied and will not get these again."

Didn’t Last a season

"Very disappointed with the durability of these gloves. I used them for most of a season as a ski guide. I maintained them often with nikwax and never did any work that I would consider tough on gloves. By spring three of the fingers had split seams and the gloves were unusable. When I brought them in for warranty they told me that this must be from excessive use. I expected these gloves to last me years rather than months. I and am very disappointed."

— Alejandro P. (1/5)

Durability is a major issue

"The gloves are reasonably warm and appear to be well made. The longevity however leaves a lot to be desired. I purchased them 2 years ago and have used them for about 8-10 resort downhill days and 2 touring days on the descents. All but one finger of the gloves appear next to new. The stitching and the leather on the middle finger of the right glove is ripping apart. Very disappointed, considering the very mild and gentle use these have gone through, nothing really "guide" like. I contacted Black Diamond and their agent claimed "excessive" use and won't stay behind their product."
