A compact two-person, four-season tent built for weight-conscious climbers,

the Black Diamond FirstLight is based on the I-Tent's expedition-specific design with steep walls and a simple floor shape to optimize living space and increase headroom. For durability, all seams are double sewn, and the stress points are reinforced. With two equal length DAC Featherlite poles that fit inside the tent with hook-and-loop wraps, it's easy to set up-even from inside. For cross ventilation, both the small rear window and the door are covered with no-see-um mesh. The canopy is constructed with water resistant, breathable NanoShield fabric. For interior organization, the FirstLight has two interior mesh pockets.

Firstlight tent review

"This tent is sweet, light weight, simple design, and will fit almost anywhere at the bivy. Whats not to love?"

Sebastian P. (5/5)

Very easy to put it

"Very easy to put it up, especially when it’s raining. Because you put the pole from inside the tent not outside like others."

David T. (5/5)

Silnet not included. Bad start.

"Both the website and the instructions for this tent state that 1 tube of Silnet (needed for seam sealing) are included with the tent. My tent did not come with Silnet, so I'll have to make a special trip to get some. I can see from other reviews that this has happened with others too. It really should be included. But at a very minimum BD should update the instructions and web site if this is not included. Not a good way to get started with a new product."

Perfect for one person in winter

"Camped out at 11,000 feet on Long's Peak on X-Mas Day fifteen years ago. Howling winds and drifting snow, below zero temps. Easy set-up. Plenty of room for one plus gear. Dark at 4 light at 7. Spent my time drinking Jamisons and thinking about the tiny canister of gas that made it possible for me to be there."

Lance S. (5/5)

Bombproof lightweight tent

"A fantastic tent when used for its intended purpose. It's pretty tight for two, but very light weight and holds up well in bad condition. Highly recommend to seal the seams which adds a lot of waterproofness"

Lee B. (5/5)

Great, lightweight 4 season tent.

"Great, lightweight 4 season tent. Used it on Mount Adams in a storm and it held up well. Just wish it came already seam sealed!"

From Bike Touring to Living in Nepal

"If I'm not on a bike tour somewhere in the world, I am more than likely at my home in Nepal or Colorado. I am always on the lookout for a lightweight well-made, high quality, self-standing and weather proof tent. Yes, I use this while on my bike and when away from home in either the U. S. or Nepal, I find it extremely useful to have this tent sitting in the bottom of my pack ready-to-use at a moment's notice. When I let people know that I don't need my own room, I'm suddenly an invited guest! I am a huge supporter of Bibler/Black Diamond tents and have used several models extensively around the world for decades."

Stanley B. (5/5)

Great for car camping

"I'm pretty much just a weekend warrior and go car camping. I used it when the weather dropped around 50°f and was pretty comfortable. The only issue I have is I wish it was an inch longer or I could stake out the back of the tent and pull it back some my. I'm 6ft 1 and I have no extra room between my head and the tent."

Brian S. (5/5)

Amazing tent but put work into customers before use

"I love this tent, light and durable for alpine adventures, my only negative feedback it’s for the fact that the customers need to put the work to seal all the seams with silicone sealant (not shipped with my order) before the first use. For a $450 tent BD should absorb the cost of doing it beforehand so the tent is ready to use for the customers."

Martin (3/5)

Fills all of my needs

"Great tent, set up is pretty easy once you get the hang of it. Extra canvas in the corners are great for preventing tent poles from punching through. I would definitely recommend it."
