"TLDR: They get the job done, but don't expect much from Black Diamond if you have any issues. I'm an avid backpacker, completing the full Appalachian trail last year, and needed poles that would collapse for my trip to Portugal, so I picked these up. All in all, they're basic trekking poles and will work for most scenarios. The challenge I had with these poles is that the left pole buckled when going downhill, causing a fall. This was seen by my fellow hiker, as the pole didn't seem to be able to handle the weigh (i'm only 210 lbs). I contacted support afterwards for a potential warranty replacement. They made it very clear that this is not normally covered under warranty and were making a one time exception to send me the lower portion only, but no other warranty would be provided. They made it really clear that they don't actually cover such a defect and they didn't even want to send me the one section of the pole. In general, I miss when companies would stand by their products. Black Diamond used to be one of the tops for trekking poles, but it doesn't seem that way any longer."

"Tip ends slide around and don't lock when stowed. This means the ends slide around. No other poles from Black Diamond I've had over the last 10 yrs have had this product defect. Worked through Black Diamond warranty and they indicate it is as intended so buyer be ware of this manufacturing design to these poles. IMO - horrible. This is not do to locks not being tight this is due to manufacturing design choices."
"Poles are nice and light. However, the black foam grip rubs off on your hands and turn them black. Also, the second clip on one of my poles wouldn't stay tight, so my pole would eventually get shorter. I used these brand new and hiked 100 miles on the AZT. Would not buy again or recommend. Too expensive for the poor quality."

"Reall like the poles, I'm 5'10" and they work great for my height. Very sturdy, I took them to Mt hood and Mt rainier recently, they held up perfectly. The weight feels just right, the adjustment clips are easy to use."
