"Bought this during a long day in Moab for some night photography at Arches NP. I had forgot my old headlamp at home 2 hours away. But fortunately a store in Moab carried and recommended these. This os my first Black Diamond product. I am very pleased with the feature set and build quality. The white lamp, even at lower output levels is bright enough for walking on rough terrain in the dark, even for a fat old guy who wears glasses. The red lamp, and the ability to access it without cycling through the white light makes this headlamp the perfect "polite" illumination where you are sharing space with other photographers after dark. The red lamp was a little dim for moving around rough, unfamiliar terrain. But for flat, even areas it is enough. Overall it's a great tool. I liked it so much I ordered 2 more the next day to keep in my gear bags so I won't forget them next time. I looked at some of the more feature rich lamps but this model fit my use case perfectly."
"It says dual fuel. I assumed (I know…) it was rechargeable. It is —if you buy the rechargeable battery sold separately from Black Diamond. So, not USB rechargeable. Not as environmentally friendly as I thought. Still it’s easy to use and will be great for camping with my dog."

"The headlamp is bright, functional, and stays alive for a while. I've had it at max brightness for over an hour. However, the controls are strange. It will turn on to whatever color/level you left it on. So the "buttons" switch depending on your settings beforehand."
"Needed a lamp for local night excursions to walk the dog and find what she leaves behind. This lamp works perfectly. Red light is perfect for most tasks and especially handy when anyone walks with me so they aren’t blinded by my effervescence. White light is really only needed for the deep search and rescue. "I have a BD headlight that directly charges via Micro USB and I LOVE it. This one comes with Duracell batteries and you can purchase a lithium battery that can be charged but this is buried in the description. This was not evident while purchasing. Now I have another headlight that needs batteries unless i want to purchase the lithium battery that it should come with and have the option to use batteries."
