Built to handle endless splitters of the Creek, cragging days at City of Rocks and the notorious slabs of Little Cottonwood Canyon, the Aspect is an engineered trad climbing machine. Designed with fine, durable leather, our innovative proprietary molded rubber and an Engineered Knit Technology tongue, this flat-lasted, slightly asymmetrical lace-up is perfect for plugging gear at the cliff.

Whether teching your way up a run-out granite slab or hucking laps on the splitters at Indian Creek, the Aspect is an engineered trad climbing machine.

Built with the highest grade European leather upper, the Aspects balance comfort with performance using innovative designs that subtly set it apart. Lace up a pair and you'll notice that the leather upper slightly covers the laces on the outside of the foot-specifically designed for protection during abrasive jamming. The shoe's tongue is made from our Engineered Knit Technology, which adds breathability and comfort. The knit also extends to the outside of the shoe to just under the rand line to offer extra padded protection for foot jams. The lateral stabilizer rands increase precision by keeping your foot from rolling when pressure is applied to the outside or inside edges. The Aspect's stiff and durable rubber is unique in that it's molded-inspired by the way we forge our carabiners-and not cut from one sheet of rubber. This is our engineered solution to optimize our shoe's rubber and rands for weight, consistency and comfort. The Aspect's medium-flex midsole adds support without sacrificing comfort. So next time you're eyeing that trad line, consider the Aspects a part of your rack.

Reviews

"Sizing is horrible"

Andrew (1/5)

Incredible shoes

"Fantastic for what they are supposed to be. Ordered in same size as my regular footwear and they fit super well. Laces are super easy to adjust and modify where necessary."

Michael P. (5/5)

Great support

"These shoes are very comfortable and give great edging support. I haven't used them on any multi-pitch yet, but looking forward to trying them out."

Patrick M. (5/5)

Worth the Pain

"I ordered my street size, and admittedly the first time on the wall was a little rough. Wore them around the house in 20min intervals and tried not to do anything crazy on the wall. Once they were broken in, they were so worth the pain. Great for heel hooks and enough toe feel to be confident wearing them on the smallest foot holds. May actually order in a half size smaller next time. We shall see how long they last."

Meghan D. (5/5)

Love this show.

"I have been using the BD Aspect shoe for about three years now. I climb several days a week at the gym and they last me about a year before I wear a hole in the toe area. Yes this is my third pair. They last a little longer than other shoes I have used. I love the fit of this shoe. I know everyone’s feet are different but these were made to fit my foot. I don’t even need to lace them up unless I’m climbing something at the top end of my abilities. Just a great overall climbing shoe."

Mike W. (5/5)

Great shoes!

"Great shoes!"

Blake S. (5/5)

Confidence

"I’m not a strong climber but for the last 5 years the last 5 years that I’ve been climbing in my Black Diamond ASPECTS, I never worry if I’m wearing the right shoe. They give me confidence on friction slab, edging, foot jamming all day long. They make the perfect all day any style climbing shoe for me. ❤️"

Jamie B. (5/5)

Good shoes!

"I have wide feet and these shoes have been working well. They still need to stretch a bit for my feet but I've been using them for outdoor climbing and I like the grippiness and have no complaints so far!"

Amy T. (5/5)

Fits like a glove

"These shoes have been great so far! I’ve used them a half dozen times on sport and trad routes. They are a perfect fit, literally. I’ve found them to perform well on slab, edging, and cracks. I wouldn’t wear them on longer crack climbs because of the limited ankle protection. I would buy these again. Great shoes!"

Fred W. (5/5)

Nice Crack and Multi Pitch Shoe

"Great show for longer routes and crack climbing. I really like how it has an edge for smaller foot holds. If you’re looking for a dedicated crack climber I’d suggest the Aspect Pros with the high top fit to protect your ankle."
