Better options exist

"I’ve owned 4 storms, had minor issues over the years. Had to replace one entirely but felt like I got enough use. Let me tell you, buying any BD headlamp is a waste of money. The battery life is terrible with AAA, spend a little more and get a PEAX or Fenix. Most of those lights are 1000+ lumens and the run times are substantially longer while arguably being more durable. Once I get through the black diamonds I have I won’t be replacing them."

Maybe some day. . . .

". . . . there will be an actual Off switch on headlamps. What are the odds that some outside pressure will turn the lamp On even in Lock mode? For me, odds are good. Even in Lock mode, the batteries are leaking valuable electrons. Meanwhile, I'll continue to wedge a piece of micro plastic between a battery and its contact"

Good, but turns on in your pack

"This headlamp has been amazing for me, with one decent issue. I have opened my pack just find it turned on, or other times I've pulled it out to use just to find the battery life depleted or dead. (From being turning itself on in the pack). I am a little surprised/disappointed it happens as much as it has regarding the size and nature of it's power button. I highly recommend any potential buyers pack ample extra batteries alongside this headlamp, especially if you will rely on it. In all other regards, I have been very satisfied with it. It's performance and brightness is very good, it shines bright and seems to have amazing battery life. (When not being on inside a pack) The different modes are great. I personally like the battery cover latch, I have an older black diamond headlamp with the older style latch which I didn't care for. The latch is much easier and faster to change out batteries, which did simplify battery changes."

Awesome Headlamp

"Just bought one of these today in orange, really nice headlamp. Lightweight, comfortable and lots of cool features and very bright on high white light setting. I have had several high quality headlamps through the years and this one is my new favorite highly recommended"

Bryan C. (5/5)

Solid Headlamp

"A lot of things to like with this headlamp; quality build, solid light choices, and different colors. My two minor complaints are 1)color choices. . . says 5 but really all colors are virtually the same. Would have been nice to have at least one bright option to make it easy to find in gear bag. 2)its not clear that it doesn't come with the rechargeable battery. It is an extra you have to purchase. But disappointing to find that out afterwards as you'd have to pay shipping a second time to order it."

Lots of bang with one big miss

"This is a great headlamp with multiple features. I was surprised both to find that it came with 3 AAA duracel batteries but also without the rechargeable battery/charger it's compatible with. I don't even think I saw a recommended purchase when buying this and seems many folks missed the fine print. Luckily I found the rechargeable battery locally and cheap at REI. Too bad the battery isn't usb-c and needs to be removed from the light for charging. minor gripes, but gripes nonetheless. Great customer service otherwise from BD on this one. Thx!"

Ran a toughest mudder with

"Ran a toughest mudder with this headlamp through the night in mud and water and had zero issues with it. It lasted all night! The light is very bright but also has a dimmer feature which was awesome. Would highly recommend this headlamp!"

Braden R. (5/5)

Bright, lightweight

"Solid headlamp, but the button on the side to quickly swap to max brightness is a bit finicky. Especially while wearing gloves. This feature is a bit of a downgrade from my 5+ year old BD headlamp."

Kelly D. (3/5)

Great Headlamp

"Very bright. Gives me visibility and confidence when camping or riding my bike at night. Lots of options in terms of intensity and colors. Battery life is pretty good as well and it lasts a long time even in the brightest setting."

Sina K. (5/5)

Weak battery cover latch

"Unfortunate failure point. The latch holding the battery compartment is a major weak point on this headlamp. BD were kind enough to replace the first one that broke on me, now the replacement has broken in the same spot. It's just not secure or durable. If you have this headlamp, perhaps you should tape over the latch when you're using it to prevent it getting flipped open by something and to help pad it."
