Our most technical climbing pack, built for light and fast missions from Alaska to Patagonia and beyond, the Speed Ultra 35lt combines an ultralight design with maximum durability.

This balance of weight and strength is largely achieved through an integration of Challenge Sailcloth's UltraWeave™ 200d body fabric combined with their UltraTNT™ PSA seam tape. The Speed Ultra’s durability is also boosted by the bomber UltraWeave™ 400d body fabric on the pack’s reinforced bottom. The Speed Ultra is a top-loader and the pack is also fully strippable with a removable waistbelt, lid and frame-sheet, as well as side compression, crampon and ice-tool straps. Inspired by the technology used in our Solution Harness, we developed a new, low-profile shoulder strap system that is extremely comfortable while remaining low-profile. Ice tool PickPockets™ feature a new custom metal dogbone ice tool attachment, boosting ice tool security, plus the snag-free crampon straps and a tuck-away rope strap secure gear to the outside. Industry leading Siberian SR buckles are glove-friendly and never freeze up, and a double skirt design that’s easy-to-access keeps out spindrift and light precip.

Great pack

"Love the Ultra fabric, removability of all the straps/components, and lack of extraneous pockets/features. Please keep making simple, stoppable packs like this!"

Lightweight Tube

"Very simple pack with tons of removable features. Inside of the pack has a small zippered pocket as well as a mesh drop in pocket that runs the full length of the back panel. With the lid removed there are two draw sting cinch closures. The interior cinch closure is about 6" taller than the outer cinch closure. This gives you slightly more volume, but not a ton. The dual draw string has worked great at keeping out light snow. A plastic shaped frame sheet can be removed from the back panel, even with this removed there is still a very thin layer of foam that gives the pack some structure without the frame sheet. The foam hip belt can be removed, but the nylon webbing hip belt is sewn into the pack. With the pack fully cinched down and without the brain it has around 32 liters of capacity. With the brain and the pack overstuffed it is probably closer to 45 liters. Has worked great as a ski pack as well as a backpacking pack, was even able to stuff a packraft and overnight gear into this thing. Could feel the shoulder straps digging in a little with the pack way overstuffed, but was impressed with how it carried a heavy load. Fits like an alpine climbing pack, very slender with the waist belt fairly high, which is great if you have a harness on, but isn't awesome for heavier loads where you would like more of the weight on your hips. Great simple pack with a pretty impressive size range and ability to add or subtract pretty much every additional feature on the pack."

Masterpiece minimalist design/construction

"A masterpiece of design and construction BD has outdone themselves. Fits so well you forget it’s there and Carrie’s weight extremely well despite its minimalism it’s clearly made by people who understand exactly what they’re doing and know how to give you exactly what’s necessary and nothing else. It’s so rugged it literally still looks out of the box new after a month of rocks and climbs and hikes it’s crazy. Super light and minimalist but not lacking in any department aside from affordability but you get what you pay for in terms of materials. Worksmanship design and utility if it fits your needs. Superb I’m always impressed by BD pack designers and this one certainly exceeded expectations - if you can deal with the cost."
