marriage of function and form -- and light as a feather!

"This raincoat nails both style and function. The silhouette is clean and flattering, with just enough stretch to stay comfortable on the move. I especially love the underarm vents for breathability and the zippered pockets for secure storage. The hood is roomy without being bulky, and it packs down into itself, which is perfect for travel. Best of all, it weighs next to nothing—easy to carry, easy to wear."

Perfect light weight rain jacket

"I bought this jacket for a fishing trip to Belize, needing a very light shell for occasional afternoon showers, or boat spray in the wind. It was perfect for my trip and I’m very happy I bought it. I’ll wear it this summer in the mountains of Oregon too, and it will be in my boat bag from now until Fall."

Timeline stretch review

"Nice jacket, like the stretch shell while also repealing water, good packability and light weight, great on trial and climbing would recommend"

Hood not good for a naked head

"The hood does not fit my head by a long shot, and I don't have a small head. It seems like you need to wear a poofy beanie or a helmet under the hood to keep it from covering your eyes. I even used the pull-cord in the hood to tighten it up, but it still slid down in front of my eyes after a few turns side-to-side. After contacting customer support, they told me that's what "shells" are. . . I was just looking for a regular rain jacket and had no idea that's what "shell" is supposed to mean, and it definitely is not clear in the product description. I will say that it otherwise seemed to be made very well."

Very Breathable

"Went on a warm hike with intermittant rain and felt fine, the shell iks very breathable and the pit zips are a life saver. Worked just as well in pouring rain and kept me dry. Cant beat it for the price."

Sizes are not generous

"Wanted a rain jacket / shell option and this seems perfect. Lighter weight - think perfect for spring / rainy summer day / fall but not winter. I sized up planning to layer a fleece under it for chilly spring days, and it just works. Cut is a little snugger, so good fit with long sleeve t-shirt or if you like a snug fit. Colors are fun and easy to see. Zippers seem sturdy so far. Worked well in 45 to 70 degree weekend in Chicago."

Not as water resistant as advertised

"Great fit and I love the materials and how small it packs down, plus the hood does well to cover the helmet. Thought this would be a perfect addition to my wet weather gear for my bicycle commute. I finally got chance to test it out today on the way home in a rain storm with a slight head wind. While it did protect me from 99% of the moisture, I noticed that the front of my mid layer underneath the rain jacket was damp. This was a quick 3 mile ride in moderate rain, so I can only imagine if I was caught in this for a longer period of time. Wondering if I got one that didn’t have the front seams near the zipper taped/sealed correctly? I will reach out to BD to see what they have to say."

Shed the Rain

"I purchased this shell to fill a gap in my kit for when I needed to stay dry in heavy rain. I was not concerned about breathability during strenuous climbs and have yet to test in those conditions. The rains arrived and I stayed dry, period. I offer 4 stars because although the hood can pull snug around the face, it would be very helpful to have some kind of adjustment to hold the hood back out of the eyes when not wearing a helmet. Folding up the visor is workaround but that leaves something else to be desired. Might also be nice to add a small internal chest patch pocket. My goal was to fill that heavy rain gap in my kit and this fits that requirement nicely. Now to pair it up with the pants!"

Solid choice

"Comfy and lightweight, I keep it in my day bag just in case, takes up little space and adds negligible weight"

Geoff B. (5/5)

I stayed dry!

"Overall I like the fit of the jacket, the pockets and the zippered pit vents. What I am not a huge fan of is the size of the hood. I realize it is meant to fit over a helmet but feels pretty cumbersome without a helmet. That said the cinch on the hood does work perfectly bringing it snug to my head if you don't mind extra fabric bunching up."
