Reviews

Love most of the features.

"Love most of the features. The new upper pocket is lined with a thin fleece that is not as durable as the material in prior models. I also don’t like that the metal belt clip cannot be swapped for plastic clips, which I find easier to use, without unstitching it. Overall still a great pack."

Summit…. Check

"We bought this pack as our “day pack” for a Mt Kilimanjaro trek, knowing that in “real life” we would really need ski packs. My 16 year old son wore the 32 and I wore the 25 for a seven day trek through five ecosystems and to Uhuru- the highest summit point. The functionality of the straps and pockets, the comfort and the durability of the pack are top notch! Can’t wait to experience the performance for skiing!"

Nice quality and utility

"Good quality bag. Solid material and zippers. Pocket on the waist strap and shoulder strap are a nice touch."

Built to last

"Like everything Black Diamond Equipment manufacturers, this item is built to a high standard. Although I didn't purchase this solely for ski touring, I'm replacing my worn and beloved Dakine Heli Pro Deluxe 24 liter with this. The zippers on packs are usually the first to fail. I like the stitching on the zipper pulls, the functional storage and overall comfort of the pack when loaded. I use is for warm-weather hiking too, so I have to adapt certain features specific to skiing to accomodate other items. Still, love the styling and the ease of routing a hydration tube as well as the stout aluminum waist buckle. I may look into one of the smaller volume models as an alternate for short excursions."

Great backpack- lots of pockets!

"Bought this backpack for backcountry skiing and have been very impressed after my first season. The dedicated safety pocket is great, keeps those items easily accessible and out of the clutter. The main pocket unzips around the back and make it easy to access things on the mountain. I especially like how big the waist strap pockets are - plenty of room for snacks or small gloves and a phone for easy access. Only improvement would be that I don't love the buckle for the waist strap, its a thread-through type and is a bit hard to use with gloves on."

Does the job, but odd design choices

"The pack does the job, seems sturdy enough and carries reasonably well, but has some odd design choices. The main compartment is only accessible from the back. Having a back opening is nice, but a quicker entry point from the top that's accessible without removing the pack would be appreciated. Additionally the ice axe attachment system is fairly standard for the ice axe heads, but lacks any straps for the shaft. You can use the snowboard attachment straps to secure the shafts in an upright position, and this appears to have been the intended design, but it's quite awkward. A more traditional shaft attachment point out of the way of the snowboard attachment point would have been nice."

Good bag!

"This is a good bag. The pockets are designed in a smart way, and the S/M bag fits me well at 5’5. I used it for backcountry snowboarding. My only complaint is the excess straps hang too long"
