"Poor design choice. Why add a plastic plate when you could just have threads on the metal piece. Also screwing metal into plastic? Great idea. The plastic plate strips immediately."

"I bought these to replace the tip on one of my Ascension skins and it fit perfectly. It did take me a little while to put it on, especially since the little tool it comes with doesn't provide enough leverage to screw it on."
"Stoked on being able to replace the loop on one of my skins. Super easy and can’t wait to get back up on the mountain. Well designed, fast shipping, and great customer service from BD!!!"
"Easy to install. And they are metal!!! I don't even try the stock ones anymore. Any skin i get like the pomoca pros i have now. I swap the tips out to this before the forst time using them."
"Since install I have kicked the wire with ski tip multiple times with no breakage. I have also reinstalled skin tip on a second set of skins using new break off screws. Durable and re-usable."
"Awesome to have replaceable parts to make your skins last another season!"
"Horrible design flaw. The "wires come out of the rectangular piece with the BD logo. After reading the reviews it seems this is a common issue. I am a big BD fan but these tip loops are reason enough to avoid BD skins."
"Absolutely the worst instruction in terms of how to put it together"
"As with many other reviewers, I have also owned BD skins for years. The old wire tip loop was amazing and bomber. These broke almost immediately, and I have zero faith that my replacement won’t also break instantly. A friend made the jaded statement that the old tip loop couldn’t be branded. I guess these are made for photos and not for actual use. Really really disappointing."
"I've had same problem as others - I've had BD skins with this tip loop design for less than one season and the wires came out of the bar on both skins while I was on a multi-day backcountry ski trip. I couldn't field fix them OR get them re-inserted with proper tools at home - I had to use Voile straps to keep front of my skins solidly on my skis. My older BD skins had a wire across the ski tip and they were bomber - lasted for years. Wondering if BD has a solution for return or repair since I didn't use them for long?"
