KARINA CARSOLIO
As the daughter of world-recognized mountaineers, CarlosΒ CarsolioΒ and Elsa Γvila,Β Karinaβs early childhood was spent in the mountains surrounding Mexico City, since then her whole life has taken place in the mountains. She grew up in the small town of Valle de Bravo, where she practiced many different outdoor sports. She started running competitively at 19 years old, achieving many podium national places during her first years of sports career. However she was immersed in med school and it wasnβt until 2021 that she started competing internationally, since then she has been able to achieve multiple podium positions in the worldsβ most prestiged skyrunning races.Β
Even though right nowΒ KarinaΒ is focused on competing, sheβs also a general physician, working primarily with women in sports, helping them with nutrition to have a healthy physiology for optimal performance.Β
Her love for nature and mountains has also led her to be involved in a diversity of projects for the environment, including the construction of dry toilets in multiple national parks, agroforestry projects in her hometown and eco-activism.
