Equipped with a fully waterproof construction and an incredibly bright 160 lumens, the Black Diamond Storm is our powerful, all-conditions headlamp. Now featuring our PowerTap Technology, the Storm allows for quick, on-the-fly brightness adjustment with just a finger tap to the side of its touch-sensitive housing. The Storm features a bright, precise beam for after-dark route-finding, as well as proximity, strobe, dimming and red night vision modes to accommodate any lighting needs. An intuitive lock mode also keeps the light from accidentally turning on when stored in your pack or pocket.

    • One QuadPower LED, two SinglePower white LEDs and two SinglePower red LEDs emit 160 lumens (max setting)
    • PowerTap technology allows fast and simple transitioning between full and dimmed power in distance or proximity modes
    • Red night-vision mode has proximity and strobe settings, and activates without cycling through the white mode
    • Sleek, low profile design uses four AAA batteries and three-level power meter shows remaining battery life for three seconds after switching on headlamp
    • Settings include: full strength in proximity and distance modes, dimming, strobe, red night vision and lock mode
    • IPX7: Waterproof—Best for saltwater and extremely wet environments. Unit is completely sealed and tested to operate up to 1 meter underwater for 30 minutes. Requires no maintenance after submersion.

Rated 5 out of 5 by One of the better ones out there I saw one of this brand being worn by one of the people on an Alaska subsistence show so I checked it out. I liked it because of the max brightness rating and battery life. I ran the included batteries for at least 200 hours running the main LED at mid brightness. The included batteries were Duracell. Brightness was very good and the band is nice and stiff. I am a contractor and i need one that will stay on my head while working upside down. This one does well. For the cons, The vertical adjustment does not have enough clicks and is very stiff. You need two hands to aim it down. Using the various lighting options is not easy to do. I carry the instructions with me to figure it out. It uses 4 AAA batteries and so is a bit bulky and heavy. The battery compartment is held closed with a thumb screw that needs a tool or coin to open it. And lastly the button for turning on the light is a bit hard to locate blindly. Overall I think it is very good for the price. June 22, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Rugged and useful This light is just right. When I don't have it strapped to bike helmet, I keep it handy to use around the house and garage. Bought two and put one in my cragging pack so I DON'T forget a light next time. June 15, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by General use/Backpacking and climbing This is a fantastic all purpose light, and I use it all the time around the house and for backpacking etc. Reason I graded it as good and not excellent is due to the battery compartment. I suppose a headlight with IPX 7 rating needs to be solid but man, that thing is a pain to open. Other than that it is a great light and would recommend it to anyone in the market for a headlight. Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect for what I needed I love this lamp, love the features. I had some trouble getting the battery compartment open, and then it wouldn't close so would flicker on and off; however, I think I figured that out, so now it's perfect. I like the dimmer option best. Comfortable to wear, which is crucial. May 18, 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by Frustrating, on/off button way too sensitive. I purchased this headlamp as an upgrade from a different brand with less features. I was looking mainly for a lamp with a red light option and dimmers. I knew Black Diamond had a really good reputation. I just have to say that despite the fact that the light on this is awesome - distance and brightness are really great! The red light and dimmer are just what I wanted but..... the thing is SO sensitive to touch that it is constantly turning on in my pack, my pocket, my glove compartment and even just changing beams with the slightest touch. I even use the lock feature but it unlocks so easily. I bought it from a locally owned outdoor store in Portland, they recommended that brand as a staff favorite. I don't want to take it back to them as I know it is hard enough for a locally company to survive without having returns. I just feel so frustrated with the amount of times I have replaced the batteries in the past seven months and that twice I have been left out in the dark, literally, when I went into my pack and found that my lamp had been on and it had drained the batteries. Rated 3 out of 5 by good headlamp but missing reinforced screw area overall is a good headlamp, mine was the previous version and lasted for 2 years, the only issue was the screw area, it needs some kind of reinforcement not to stop over tight the screw, which can lead to breaking the top plastic part. Mine was broken after 2 years of tightening and loosening, the top part area just came shatter in little pieces of plastic. I just got a new one, but I think it has the same problem, hopefully lasts 2 years. They also need to update the online manual, it says 1 triple power led, but it's 1 quad power led. thanks March 20, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by its the one for me spent 3 years dithering and a year ago i bought this. had the money to buy anything and not care. I am a fan of standard battery sizes. Anything more powerful was pointless and some hurt my eyes. Anything noticeably less was not good enough. It has wide beam for in tent use with the two white leds as wide as my field of vision. That quadpower for night walking was at least good enough. One set of re-chargeables has always been enough for a couple of nights in the wild. Love the dimmer and power tap. Rated 5 out of 5 by Best headlamps I have! These are pretty lightweight and have lots of power and options to choose from. I have 4 of these and carry them with me for Search and Rescue and they work great for an overnight search and can switch quickly to a red light when close to other searchers to not blind each other. If you have any problems the black diamond staff is ready to help quickly with any concerns. I love all Black Diamond products that I own! February 10, 2016
