Great headlamp for running...I especially love the minimal weight, auto-on for the rear flasher (when front is turned on), and perfect amount of lumens.

This light is bright enough to use on single track in the VT woods. It's nice that it doesn't bob like some lights do and throw your vision out of whack. The rear flasher is convenient when running on roads at night or for longer relay races that require a rear flasher. Otherwise you can just turn it off. The fact that it is rechargeable is a bonus.

Rated 5 out of 5 by mark Perfect for running
This light is perfect for running. I use this primarily to run on trails & on the road where I live. I like that it's rechargeable because I never have to worry about the batteries dying on a run.
It has both front & rear lights, a feature you'd need 2 lamps to provide otherwise. The rear light can be turned off easily when you don't need it. The lights are bright too, plenty bright for running. I also use it for cycling after dark. It's a little too dim to use as my only headlight (although I did that once when my bike headlamp failed & it was do-able), but it makes a great light to be seen by oncoming traffic. The light isn't sold for this purpose, so I consider it a plus.
The light is the perfect weight, it's completely unobtrusive. It comes with a strap that you can put over your head as well, but I have never used that. The strap that goes around your head does tend to loosen up with time, so I find myself having to re-tighten it every few runs, but that is a really minor complaint.
I bought the first version of this light when it came out on 2009, and bought this version when it was upgraded in 2012. No regrets on either purchase. If/ when they stop working (both are still working just fine as of fall 2013), my next headlamp will be another BD Sprinter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Michael The best running headlamp
I've used a variety of head lamps for running and the sprinter is the best by far. Great light dispersion, lights up the trail and has zero "bob" while running. I don't think I'd use it for riding single track, but for running and other similar activities it is top notch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Damien Excellent! Finally, a headlamp I can run with.
As someone below said, this is a definite game changer. I used to never run in the mornings with a headlamp because of the way they bounce and flop around. Not at all with the Sprinter. This has become my new best friend for Fall/Winter trail runs. When the days get short, this piece of equipment is helping me extend the day.

I purchased the Sprinter headlamp about 1 1/2 years ago...use it for summer camping and love its power and that it is rechargeable. For whatever reason it would not take a charge anymore so contacted BD to see if a new battery could be ordered. They indicated that they would send me a brand new unit as part of their warranty program. WOW what a nice surprise! This kind of service is such a treat and I will be singing the praises of Black Diamond to my outdoor friends. Thank you BD!

I work a job at which night-lights are everything.
This handy, light weight, little unit goes everywhere I go. It's convenient to charge and can be charged with solar panels as well as at the car. I think I'd like it better if the rear blinker was set to turn on as needed versus default on, but aside from that A+ product!

What I love most about this lamp is that you can run with it and because the weight of the (rechargeable) battery is in the back, you have way less bouncing. Also, you can turn off the red strobe light in the back if you are not using it in an urban environment. Since it is so multi-functional: it is waterproof, I can run & ride with it, it is rechargeable, and you can remove the top-strap (I never used it) this is my go-to lamp. If you are somewhere without access to electricity, you might want to opt for one with exchangeable batteries on multi-day trips.
Only way to improve on this lamp is to give it dimming, and maybe a slightly more ergonomic shape of the battery-housing on the back.
