Description

Our most versatile belay/rappel device, the Black Diamond ATC-Guide is now even lighter thanks to windows machined through the body. We also enlarged the auto-block release hole to accept a small carabiner. Multiple friction modes provide the optimal amount of stopping power when lowering or rappelling, and the device's guide mode lets you belay one or two seconding climbers off an anchor.

  • Multiple friction modes for belay and rappel
  • Machined windows through device for weight savings
  • Guide mode works with one or two climbers ascending or descending
  • Auto-block release hole enlarged to accept a small carabiner
  • Durable cable holds its shape and resists getting caught between ropes
  • Hot-forged construction
  • Handles ropes from 7.7 mm to 11 mm

Rated 5 out of 5 by one device, many funtions Simple, cheap, light. Use this for belay, rappel, haul, and practicing self rescue. Nice to have one device for everything. April 15, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Bitchin Device Lighter and more versatile than ever. No rope twisting; belay, lower, or rappel; high or low friction; etc, etc. March 26, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great gear Recently I started to step up my climbing game by learning how to lower my climbing partner into a canyon so he could climb a line that I'm not strong enough for - yet. With this device I was able to securely and confidently lower my climbing buddy into a canyon and then change the system to safely belay from the top of the climb. It was pretty effortless - totally stoked that such a simple gear addition has opened up more opportunities for adventure. January 27, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Simple and functional auto-blocking belay This is the easiest and simplest auto-blocking device out there for belaying a second on multipitch climbs. Works exactly as it should. Lightweight. It's the only belay device you'll ever need. January 7, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good gear I like the ATC features. Useful, lightweight, multi purpose. Thanks. December 30, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Greatest ATC on the market I thought it was a little expensive for an ATC at first but after using it and seeing how rugged it was I had no second guesses on buying one. This tops a GRE GRE in my opinion. I am very satisfied with my purchase. December 7, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best belay device on the market All the other belay devices I have were either given away or are sitting in a bin deep in my gear room. Looks sharp, works really well. Excellent braking, great in guide mode. I did have the V grooves get clogged with ice once, but I smacked against my boot a few times. Problem solved. November 12, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best choice The best climbing belay device. I'm using this one for rock and mountain climbing, not the newest but probably first one without holes on the sides of. Also for teaching adepts. ATC is the best one. If I'm comparing to Reverso (1, 2, 3) there is nothing to compare :) October 10, 2013
