Rated 5 out of 5 by Mike from Best on the Market! This probe and its larger version, are the best on the market. I teach avalanche courses and the students always walk away wanting the probe that I am using - which is this one. The pull handle is so sweet and easy to use. It is quick and easy to grab. The pole parts click together easily. This probe is durable - I cut many Rutschblocks, ECTs, and PSTs this past winter and this probe never bent when sawing with my cord. Best of all - the numbers are SO EASY to read. With all other companies, I have to get really close to the probe and squint to see the numbers. With the BD probes, I can see them from 5-10 ft away. The numbers do wear off after a while with lots of block sawing, but there are enough numbers to still see what I need to see.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Dave from Great re design with attentiion to the details I bought this probe to replace my BD carbon fiber probe that got whacked by a shovel in a strategic shoveling practice for our SAR team. I really liked my old BD probe but this one is even better. The depth numbers are large enough to read even for my aging eyes, The cable latch mechanism is improved and more positive. Best of all the cone shaped ferrules and the delrin rings on the female ends of the sections make assembly a snap. Now if we can just get some snow I'll be able to try it out in an actual snowpack and update this review.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Justin from Plain and Simple It's a probe - it's supposed to be straight and stick in the snow and it does. Easy to read numbers, good strength, and the pull handle for locking it works well. It would be nice if the cable was spring loaded, but this might lead to potential failures.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jill from Just what I expected! Used this bad boy on a backcountry ski tour in the AK range. VERY sturdy and a little beefy, but this makes me confident that it will perform as expected when I need it most. A friend even bought this probe to replace his after borrowing it from me :)
