Black Diamond and PIEPS are continuously working to improve the performance of avalanche transceivers through firmware updates. Recent improvements include better interference management and longer battery life. To take advantage of these important improvements, we encourage users to always stay up to date with the latest firmware. The process is easy, free, and only takes a few minutes:
- Download the PIEPS app for iOS or Android to your smart phone or tablet.

Reminder to Recon LT owners: In March 2023, we issued a recall to update the Recon LT’s firmware due to a software malfunction that may unexpectedly cause the device to enter search mode. The update procedure outlined above will resolve the issue. For more information, please visit this page.
