SALT LAKE CITY, UT (February 27, 2025) – Black Diamond Equipment® is recalling the Vision harness due to premature degradation of its specialized materials and construction. This has the potential to create a risk of serious injury or death. Consumers who own the Black Diamond Vision harness should immediately stop using it and follow the recall procedures.
To date, Black Diamond has received one incident report involving a heavily used product in which the waist belt failed in an atypical manner with no reported injuries or fatalities. While the root cause is still under investigation, Black Diamond is recalling all the units out of an abundance of caution. Black Diamond is committed to addressing this matter swiftly and proactively.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Health Canada have been notified.

Owners of Black Diamond Vision harnesses should immediately stop using the harness and send it back by following the recall procedures (shipping is free of charge). Black Diamond is offering two remedy options:

- Request a full refund: If preferred, you may return your harness for a full refund

How was this issue discovered?
- A climber reported a failure of his harness during normal use. He was not injured, but his heavily used harness showed evidence of an atypical failure of the waist belt. We immediately launched an investigation with his input. While the root cause is still under investigation, Black Diamond is recalling all the units out of an abundance of caution.

- After receiving a report involving a heavily used Vision harness in which the waist belt failed in an atypical manner, we immediately began an investigation. While the root cause is still under investigation, Black Diamond is recalling all the units out of an abundance of caution.
What caused this failure?
- Early investigation results suggest the failure may be related to premature degradation of the unique materials and construction techniques of this harness model. It appears that a combination of use, materials, construction techniques, and environmental factors (such as UV) could have contributed. Once our investigation is complete and the cause(s) identified, we will share our findings with the community.
