At Black Diamond, Giving Tuesday wasn’t quite cutting it. With all the powerful partnerships we’ve supported over the past year, dedicating just one day wasn’t enough time to share the love and make the impact we’re striving for. So, for 2024, it’s Giving December. Every week this month, we’ll be shining the spotlight on a different partnership and donating 1% of sales that day to their cause. Let’s go.
Honnold Foundation
Founded by BD Athlete Alex Honnold in 2012, the Honnold Foundation partners with marginalized communities to expand equitable solar energy access. From solar energy and job creation for homes on the Navajo Nation, to climate resilience & hurricane shelters for BIPOC restaurant owners in New Orleans, to solar powered boats connecting Indigenous communities and preventing deforestation across the Amazon—the Honnold Foundation resources visionary grassroots leaders who whose ideas have the potential to scale.
Our collab Honnold products continue to provide proceeds to the Honnold Foundation. Not only can you rock a signature Alex Honnold harness, but you’re simultaneously giving support to an organization that is striving to make a difference.
Climbing For Change
Climbing for Change is on a mission to make connections and uplift underserved minorities within the outdoor industry. From athletes to industry leaders or film makers, they aim to make our industry a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment.
We have partnered with Climbing for Change to offer quarterly grants (up to $1000) to help BIPOC individuals' transition from the gym to outdoor climbing. You can apply here!
Ascend: Leadership Through Athletics
Ascend empowers women through mountaineering-based leadership, training, and community service. But the goal isn’t to do the work for communities. It’s to introduce new skillsets, certification, and careers to members of that community and help women thrive and uplift that community on their own.
We are partnering with Ascend to support four women in Pakistan as they go through an SPI (Single Pitch Instructor) program. By employing and training local instructors in Pakistan, we ensure that the knowledge and opportunities stay within the community, fostering long-term growth and sustainability.
Access Fund
Protect America’s climbing. It’s as simple as that. How? By supporting Access Fund. Founded in 1991, Access Fund is our national advocacy organization that tirelessly works to protect sustainable access and conserve climbing environments.
This year, Black Diamond will match every donation up to $75,000 from climbers just like you to help Access Fund keep climbing areas open and conserved. Donate now to double your contribution to this critical work.
