Built with durable, lightweight aluminum and featuring both our compactible Z-Pole technology and FlickLock Pro adjustability, the Black Diamond Distance FL trekking pole defines on-trail versatility. Ideal for everything from short day hikes to week-long backpacking trips, the Distance FL's 20 cm of adjustability lets you tweak the length (especially nice for sidehilling or for use with a tarp shelter). Employing a coated inner cord and conical shaft ends, our speed cone deployment provides quick and rigid alignment in seconds. A lightweight EVA grip is complemented by a mini-extension for choke-ups on steep inclines and interchangeable tips for variable trail surfaces.

  • Durable aluminum construction
  • Three-section Z-Pole folding design with speed cone deployment and FlickLock Pro adjustability
  • Lightweight EVA foam grip with breathable, moisture-wicking strap
  • Non-slip foam mini-grip extension for secure choke-ups
  • Includes interchangeable, non-marking rubber Tech Tips and carbide Tech Tips
  • Stopper basket with shaft catcher secures folding sections
  • NOTE: 3-season Z-Poles do not accept, or have fittings for snow or powder baskets

Our Z-Pole Technology was born from our expertise in avalanche probes—by using a three-section shaft, a concealed inner Kevlar cord and innovative speed cones, our collapsible Z-Poles snap into place and lock with a single pull.

When not in use, a single push button releases the pole for compact storage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Poles These are my first hiking poles and I believe they have everything I could ask for ---lightweight, length adjustability and they fold up to a very compact size that slides into the backpack. And they were on sale to boot !! I'm a happy hiker :-) June 9, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Recommend I'm amazed how valuable this was. My wife and I used the poles in Yosemite. It saved us from falling many times on the slippery hills. I wasn't sure if they were needed, but I'm convinced they are. I highly recommend them, if you are trekking on a hill. April 3, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great poles First trekking poles I've purchased. Bought them to use in ultraruns. Only used in training so far, but I am very satisfied. They're lightweight, sturdy, easy to extend, easy to fold down. The flick-lock gives you some leeway in the length. Can't wait to use them in my first mountain ultra. April 1, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love 'em! Got these for a backpacking trip through the Smokies. They stow small, are lightweight and seem very sturdy. A huge help when carrying a heavy pack up and down the mountain. Easy to use to boot! Comfortable grips, and straps if you need them. Highly recommend these! March 16, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great with one exception The Distance FL poles have been great so far. Have been used for around 800 miles so far. The only weak area is the straps. The first pairs fabric wore away. The second have had the attachment string break and was replaced with 2mm cord. July 18, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Full equipment I'm a begginer in trail running and this pole is all that I was lookin for. May 7, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Durable, Compact, Adjustable These poles have gone around the Mont Blanc and done Chamonix Zermatt, plus other hikes. They show no wear and unlike any other trekking pole I have used haven't bent, maybe the give due to the 3 sections and shock cords keeps them from bending. The FL flick lock allows adjustment of length and is invaluable as terrain changes. I like to go longer on the flats or when going fast. I had the original ones and the default tip was rubber over the ferrule, the carbide in the handy bag. My only suggestion would be to install the carbide by default as I wore through the rubber during the trek without having a replacement. Our Tour du Mont Blanc was written up in Men's Journal and when they asked me what was the essential gear I said the FL poles and they were featured in the article too. May 2, 2013
