How-to Video: Fitting Black Diamond Gloves and Mitts

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 79 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Keeps my hands warm I've used this glove for one Winter season, sometimes in -30 degrees celsius. They've done a good job at keeping my hands warm (I've always had a problem with gloves not being warm enough). They do fit a bit tight, so if you want to add a liner I would suggest sizing up. They are also a pretty stiff glove, so if you need a lot of dexterity there may be something better for you. June 5, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Just too stiff of a glove When I first got these gloves they were too stiff to even use. I gave them roughly a year of use (mostly around town - shoveling, walking the dog, doing chores around the house). I wouldn't even trust them in the backcountry until they were broken in. One year later, I feel like they never broke in and never will. Terrible dexterity, zero comfort. Try the Rambla or Super Rambla glove - they are WAY more comfortable. April 18, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by too small I've owned three generations of guide gloves, always large. Love 'em. But large in this generation is definitely too small. April 14, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Men's Guide Glove Love this glove. They run big.I had to send the size medium back and order a small. I have another pair of Black Diamond gloves that fit well and they are medium. February 17, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Please Sell the Liners Again I've been using the Guide glove for years, and found it to be one of the best gloves for ski mountaineering. I'd give past generations of the glove 5 stars because BD sold replacement waterproof liners. The shells held up pretty well, while the insulation in the liners would pack out and they would start to leak. It was cost effective to simply buy replacement liners. BD says they no longer sell replacement liners. Sorry to hear that, because being able to buy replacement liners was one of the greatest features of this glove. BD, please reconsider, and start selling the liners again! February 9, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Guide gloves for Christmas This is the Christmas present that wasn't. These gloves are rated to -20F. Today it was 8 degrees above and my fingers froze. They are no warmer than my $50 gloves that I have used in the past. I would send them back for you to resell if I didn't have to pay for the shipping. February 2, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Solid glove, with some minor issues Just bought and then used this glove on a January summit of Mt. Shasta. Gloves were warm, maintained dexterity, and were tough enough to stand up to the sharp volcanic rock outcrops we scrambled around on the ridgeline. Couple of issues: 1) I bought the size recommended by the size chart (measured my hand and all). I should have sized up to accomodate a liner. 2) The weather was variable, from 50+mph gusts blowing snow to warm and sunny. When my hands got a bit sweaty, it was hard to pull my hands out of the gloves and then reinsert due to the insulation layer getting snagged inside the glove. At one point, I pull out the insulation layer, put on a different liner and then put that back into the outer glove. Overall, I'm satisfied and will be using these on future mountaineering as I begin to explore the mountains more in the winter. January 21, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Could be better I've been an Ultimate buyer for years,,, tried BD for the first time. I had to adapt the glove to be more of a work glove,,, strings to keep the glove close and not fall is a really good thing. The gauntlet needs to be insulated as well. The shock cord synch is weak. Water proofing is just ok, I haven't put the Nikwax suff on yet to see if it's better. January 13, 2015
