Quiet forest trails, deserted summits and sunny red-rock scrambles-these are the natural habitats of the 22-liter Black Diamond Nitro pack. Built with a pared-down simplicity and the ideal day-hiking feature set, the Nitro carries the essentials with maximum comfort thanks to its reACTIV suspension system with high-flow OpenAir backpanel, shoulder straps and waistbelt. • reACTIV suspension with high-flow OpenAir backpanel, shoulder straps and waistbelt
  • Zippered panel access
  • Trekking pole/ice axe loops, bike light clip
  • Front, side and hipbelt stretch pockets and raincover pocket (raincover not included)
  • Hydration compatible with external access hydration sleeve

WHY ACTIVE suspension?

WHY ACTIVE suspension?

Black Diamond packs built with our award-winning active suspension systems—ergoACTIV, ergoACTIV XP, reACTIV and reACTIV XP—are unparalleled in comfort, efficiency and load transfer. Because the shoulder straps and hipbelt move with you, friction and hot spots are eliminated. The pack’s load stays perfectly balanced at all times—without adjustment—and allows your body to move naturally in any direction. This results in a more efficient, comfortable, longer stride—meaning you can cover more ground, more quickly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Great, Simple Daypack w/ bomber suspension but a little big in size I'm 6'1" and picked this pack up in a M/L size. I was looking for something that I could use on big day hikes in the mountains, alpine climbs, and peak bagging adventures in the Eastern Sierra. This pack is just what you need and nothing extra. I can fit my shell, down, fleece, lunch, headlamp, and my DSLR and be good to go. If I leave the camera at home, I can fit a harness and climbing shoes and throw a short rope over the top. The suspension on this pack is bomber. You can feel it moving with you as you move and it carries weight well. That being said, how much weight are you really going to carry in a 22L pack? Folks have complained about the way the pack carries the water bladder, but I like it. It's easy to get at--I don't need to empty out or even open my pack--and held in securely. I thought the sizing on the torso was a little on the big size. It'd be nice to see BD make packs in S, M, L instead of S/M, M/L. I found the M/L to be a bit long for me and it rides kind of low. Not so much that I could go to a smaller size, but enough to be annoying. If I was carrying serious weight in this pack, it wouldn't fit properly, but as it's just a daypack I can get away with a slightly improper fit. Other than that I highly recommend it. August 27, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by comfortable pack, clumsy hydration sleeve This pack includes comfort features that you would normally hope for on larger packs...all while keeping the weight to a reasonable level. It even includes the reACTIV suspension system...a nice feature if you ever load this up. My only serious complaint is with the external access hydration sleeve. This is more of a deep pocket that is positioned between the back panel and the main compartment. It's a bit hard to access (you can barely fit your hand in it), and it hasn't any way of sealing out the rain. I've noticed this same clumsy external hydration sleeve design on some other packs. I hope it's a fashion that goes away...or is at least improved upon. Personally, I like having a simple hydration sleeve in the main compartment. When it's not used for a hydration pouch, it can be a useful divider pocket for a tablet or gloves or hat, etc. That aside, overall the pack has a clean design, more comfortable than others, especially in the 20 liter range. If Black Diamond simplified the hydration sleeve by bringing it back inside, I'd give it five stars. August 1, 2013
