WHY ACTIVE suspension?

WHY ACTIVE suspension?

Black Diamond packs built with our award-winning active suspension systems—ergoACTIV, ergoACTIV XP, reACTIV and reACTIV XP—are unparalleled in comfort, efficiency and load transfer. Because the shoulder straps and hipbelt move with you, friction and hot spots are eliminated. The pack’s load stays perfectly balanced at all times—without adjustment—and allows your body to move naturally in any direction. This results in a more efficient, comfortable, longer stride—meaning you can cover more ground, more quickly.

Reviews

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great First Pack This pack was my first BD pack and I love it. The reActiv suspension works great so the pack feels fantastic on approach. It's definitely got enough room for all the essential climbing/camping gear for a 2-3 day trip (excluding tent; although I don't exactly have a very packable tent or sleeping bag yet so it could be possible). Rated 4 out of 5 by Fits well, great for up to four day trips I spent a lot of time researching a lightweight multi-day climbing pack. This is the one I settled on and love this pack, it fits well (The medium fit me perfectly other than the belt being almost too big, (I'm tall but have have small shoulders and small waist). It carries the load very well. The downside was the material tears (easily) if hauled on rock. Only haul in free space! October 14, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great feel, materials tear I love how the straps adjust to the movement of my shoulders while climbing. Having the option to strip it down to it's essentials gives it alot of alpine value. The gear loops on the waist strap makes it easy to keep my pro accessible. Additionally the pack felt aligned having the waist strap clipped above my harness. It has a three point system for hauling the pack, but I wish the material was a little more durable for this purpose. Very early in it's life I hauled it up a chimney only to find a hole tore through in the top compartment. I even took pains to keep the pack free of rock features during the haul. That's my only complaint so far. Otherwise a stellar alpine pack! August 19, 2013
