Describe your skiing background:
I grew up skiing in Aspen, CO. I converted over to
telemark skiing my last year of high school and haven’t
turned back. Skied in Silverton, CO area while going
to college and now I am back home skiing the Roaring
Fork Valley.
What was your big breakthrough or defining moment in
skiing?
Receiving the “Sickbird” award in 2004.
Describe a skiing experience when things got out of
hand?
Watching my friend Tyler ski out of an avalanche
in Val’d isere, France.
What are you up to when you’re
not skiing?
Talking or thinking about skiing.
Any training advice or suggestions?
Kayak, bike, surf and have fun during the warm months.
Who or what inspires you?
My friends.
How do you see skiing evolving in the next five years?
Telemark skiing has a lot of potential and now there
has become a sort of freeride telemark scene that has
started and really made the sport more appealing to
the public. We are skiing just as fast as skiers nowadays
and hucking just as big, except our heels are free.
Do you think the best skiers today are
better than the best skiers 20 years ago? Skiers
are definitely pushing the limits more nowadays.
How does fear affect your skiing?
It affects me every time I am skiing up to a big cliff.
Do you have any vices that you would like to share?
Sorry, I don’t own any vices.
Ever been caught speeding or ever been arrested?
Been caught speeding trying to get to Crested Butte
for some spring skiing.
Are you a fan of skiing history? Explain?
I liked the hot dogger revolution, and the 80s
ripped in skiing fashion!
What are your future plans or goals in skiing?
To telemark ski an Alaskan face.
