DescriptionMove seamlessly from the crag to an all-day multi-pitch adventure with the versatile Black Diamond 9.6. Featuring an Endurance sheath that utilizes a 1X1 weave construction to lengthen the ropes’ lifespan by making it more abrasion-resistant, the 9.6 hits that sweet spot of being thin enough for a hard sport redpoint, but thick enough to take a seasonal beating in the desert. With a middle marker and comfortable handling that knots easily and feeds smoothly through a belay device, the BD 9.6 is our multi-faceted workhorse climbing cord.
- Endurance Sheath: With more material and a unique 1x1 weave construction, our Endurance sheath is abrasion-resistant and lengthens the lifespan of your rope
- Durability and Handling Balance: Purpose-built to balance both durability and great handling, our ropes are not too stiff and not too soft, giving you a great feeling rope that knots easily, feeds through your belay device with ease, yet holds up to a barrage of use

Rated 5 out of 5 by JonC from Beautiful hand, thick yet supple sheath I had the chance to work with a friends new 9.6, and it comes off as a bit of a marvel. So, it feels burly for a 9.6 - and if you check the numbers, the dry 9.6 is 65 g/m to the 9.9's 64 g/m and has 3 more factor falls than the 9.9!! (By the way BD, you guys have so many crazy names for jackets and layers, you nailed it on the rope names. Thanks - so simple, so good!) I only used the rope a couple days, so I'll have to report back on endurance, but the rope didn't blacken my hands. I know some people say the dry treatment will do that, but in my mind it's residue from aluminum belay pieces that gets on the rope. Do you know, BD? Bottom-line, I plan to make this my next rope, it really impressed me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by JayM from Good rope; dirties easy Rope performs well; Good elongation and feels nice in the hands. I take great care of ropes and I don't enjoy black hands after a belay at all.. this rope turned black REAL FAST (after one week in Slade) and now tarnishes my hands each belay.
