Dual Core Construction

Dual Core Construction™

Dual Core Construction combines a supportive but lightweight design with an ultra-comfortable load distribution. Dual Core Construction consists of an OpenAir waistbelt that uses two separate bands of webbing around the outside of the frame and a supportive insert in the center to allow for maximum breathability. Leg loops constructed from a single strand of full-width high-tensile nylon allow for total support and comfort when hanging in the harness.

Aspect Harness is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 26.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Product is not durable, functions decently. I have climbed in this harness from March to October. The gear loops are not great for racking, but it is comfortable. Overall, I am very disappointed. The fabric covering the padded leg loops has worn through and frayed. The leg loop strap retainers have also worn out. I have only put about 300 rock pitches on this harness and have to retire it from use. I did not do any major chimney or off-width climbing and this thing is beat. It looks dreadful and I can no longer use it when instructing or guiding. My clients constantly scrutinize my equipment and this harness makes me look unprofessional.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Expecting good things...but gear loops disappointingly small Overall this looks to be a good harness and came recommended...but I received it and noticed the gear loops are smaller that other harnesses that I have (have had). They also seem to be a little more rearward...seems like the front gear loops could have been extended forward to accommodate more gear. Was hoping to use this for my ice AND rock/alpine harness but seems that it will not be "comfortable" enough to carry a lot of gear for bigger/longer trad climbs. Maybe this will be adequate...will have to wait and see. Looks like it will be a GREAT harness for ice climbing...don't need as much stuff on the harness then anyway.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid Ice Harness A great ice harness that allows for a stacked rack of screws on big Can-Rocks ice or doggin' drytool routes in Vail. The loops are slightly smaller possibly to accommodate the spacing for the ice clippers in between. Good idea as nothing sucks more than a gear loop torquing your clipper all around. Comfy for short hanging belays and drop seat for the backcountry bathroom break. The only drawback are the buckles. The forged speed adjust buckles tighten great and are lightweight but can be a bit challenging to loosen with gloves. Maybe some sort of opposing tabs on top/bottom buckle for thumb/index finger could help?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's a keeper As expected, this harness is quality, as is all Black Diamond gear. What drew me to this harness was its versatility. The fully adjustable leg loops are a must for colder weather, the screw clipper slots are abundantly placed, the long gear loop in the back allows one to store lesser used gear out of the way, and the speed adjust buckles make suiting up a breeze. The padding is not what you might find in a Misty or Metolious harness but it is adequate and streamlined. On the plus side to the padding, it stores in your pack wonderfully on long approaches. Over all I am impressed with this harness. It is a comfortable, durable, and well-rounded piece of equipment. Climb on!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great All-Arounder! I purchased the BD Aspect harness as a replacement for a BD Chaos harness that had seen it share of rope time. The versatility of the harness was the selling point with easily adjustable buckles to accommodate the various layers of the climbing seasons we have in my home state of Colorado. From high alpine climbs in the summer; clipping bolts at the local sport crag to climbing ice in the winter, the Aspect has helped me do it all. It is light enough to carry on long days in the high country and comfortable enough to hang out in while working a route. I find myself increasingly packing the Aspect for any adventure and leaving my other harnesses hanging in the gear closet.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The features I like the best is the extra gear loops on the back. This allows for a water bottle and approach shoes. The Aspect Harness is great. I like that it has extra gear loops on the back side. This allows for a water bottle and shoes to be out of your way. However I would like to see more padding. Or start making other harnesses with the extra gear loops. But I use it in all seasons. I thought about the big gun for long routes but it just seams a little much. So I chose the Aspect. I guide in the winter time at Silverton Mountain and in Alaska Heli guiding. So I will use it in AK this up and coming winter. Less bulk for winter is great.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good harness As expected the Aspect Harness is a solid piece of gear which does it's job. The prethreaded buckle seem more secure than non prethreaded buckles. To nit pick a little, the gear loops do not seem to hang as far from the harness as I would like making clipping gear on the a little more difficult than my old momentum harness. And as with all BD harnesses the leg loops are a couple of inches too small. If I were to use this harness in the winter I would need to buy 2, a large and an extra large, to mix and match the waist belt with the leg loops. (Which I have done in the past).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Climbed Ice No Problem I bought this as my second harness, specifically for ice climbing. I got tired of racking ice screws on my old BD Momentum with with a rigged up screw keeper. I don't have a ton of info, or super critical detail. It worked for me climbing multi-pitch WI4. Sure, the adjustments are harder with gloves on, but I think they would have to be bulkier to make it easier. I don't mind the extra effort; I consider it a part of my finger warm up program. I use my other harness for all of my other purposes. VERY happy with this purchase and can't wait for the ice to form!
