Rated 4 out of 5 by Lauren619 from Solid Sun-hoody I am really impressed with the design of this sun-hoody, it is sleek and has a very flattering fit with just enough room for a tank top under it (I am 5'-5", 130lb and bought a size small). The only downside is I generally don't like to wear a shirt underneath my sun-hoody but with this piece the stitching is itchy, forcing me to wear a layer in between. Other than that the color and fit is awesome.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Katherine from Awesome sun hood I live and work in the desert and use my Patagonia Sunshade hoody often for personal trips. I needed a sun hoody in a neutral color for work and decided to try the BD Alpenglow Sun Hoody. I love this layer, it has a great fit, material and especially a well-designed sun hood. The hood fits loosely, with good air flow and provides great shade. I am 5'7", 130lbs and the small fits well. I also wear a small in the Alpine Start Hoody.

Rated 4 out of 5 by MT Maven from Perfect for warm temps, breathable The shirt has a nice breathable material which allows you to keep your skin covered from the sun's rays. I am fair skinned and do a significant amount of mountaineering so staying covered is important. I have found that when the temps are below 70 or perhaps 80 with a breeze, the shirt does fine. Much warmer than that, and it feels like I'm wearing a long sleeve shirt on a hot day. Sure, it stays breathable, but don't expect it to feel weightless. The bottom seam is a little tighter than the rest of the shirt which is a weird design, perhaps to keep the shirt from riding up. Sometimes it rides up and bunches beneath my backpack waist strap which is annoying. I also find that the snuggness down low, prevents some airflow which might otherwise exist. The hood is nice but does not stay up in any sort of wind so I wind up having to hold it up over my ears and neck which is kind of a pain. All in all, a good shirt for the purposes, but I'm not sure I found the best shirt that exists for this end.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Melanie from Awesome! Just add thumb holes. LOVE this product. I use it on river trips, climbing trips, and backpacking. It's super light and doesn't get too smelly after multi day use... I would add thumb holes to the next model though to add sun protection to the backs of my hand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Emily from The best women's sun hoody on the market! I shopped around for several weeks looking for a super-lightweight sun-protection hoody for long distance hiking - I'm not a fan of the more common "button up" UPF shirt options, and wanted something with a hood that I could also use to cover my neck/sides of my face. I settled on the Alpenglow hoody for two main reasons: 1) Material. Surprisingly, a lot of "sun hoodys" are made with fairly heavy material. The Alpenglow hoody is not - it's lightweight and breathable but still substantial enough to hold up to wear and tear. 2) Fit. I have the BD Alpine Start jacket (which, I will also say, is a far superior wind shirt compared to others I've tried! It's awesome!) so I knew BD products fit me well. I'm 5'6" 140 lbs with a muscular build and wear a size Small, which fits perfectly though I wouldn't want it any smaller. I love that BD makes their women's products long enough in the torso. After using the hoody on a John Muir Trail trek this fall I have to say it performed wonderfully. There were no contact spots with my pack where seams rubbed, etc. It got a *little* ripe by the end of my trip but EVERY synthetic product will, and I couldn't find a suitable merino substitute for this hoody! I love this product and when I wear it out to its death I will gladly purchase another. Fit, material, quality, color, etc. - all are great! (PS I'd highly recommend this + the Alpine Start jacket as a layering system. Perfect for playing in the mountains.)
