Rated 5 out of 5 by Daniel from I freaking love wearing this jacket. This thing is boss. One of my favorite pieces of clothing. Frankly, if I'm not sure what to wear...I grab this with confidence and head out. -Breaths very well -Sheds water like crazy -Keeps me warm when it's getting cold. -Feels like wearing a second skin...this thing is crazy. I've worn this rock climbing below freezing and also ice climbing above zero. I'm 6' and 165. I bought the Large and I love the fit, I hate sleeves being too short...I didn't want this to be tight. I have great range of motion and layer up real nice underneath if I just want this as an outer layer while trusting my insulation on the inside.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jonathan from Excellent ice climbing shell! This is a bit of a first impressions post, as I've only been able to test this jacket out on a few days on the ice so far. This is an excellent soft shell... easily one of the nicest items i've ever owned. Sheds water easily, blocks most of the wind, and fits absolutely perfectly. The hood is large and fits easily over a helmet. Most importantly (for me) it seems quite durable so far. I've found a lot of shells don't stand the test of climbing time, and so far this is extremely resistant to abrasion and tears. Overall, very impressed so far, excited to take it on some ski tours and more ice this season.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Andy from Great build, but sizing is funky and on small First, the good: This jacket is built well. It breaths very well, it stands up to the sticks and stones it inevitably encounters, and it looks good doing it. The different: In the small size, the jacket is euro-slim around the chest, with nice length arms, and sits slightly below the butt. I like being able to reach over my head without finding my cuffs at my elbows, but these might be a touch too long. The less good: Forethought seems to have disappeared somewhere slightly north of the neck. The collar is very tight and there's no way you'll get any hemet under the hood. The super-slim approach goes too far in this area. It wasn't what I was expecting, but the jacket is seeing a lot of use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Greg from Great jacket for Ski Touring I put around 30 days of touring in wearing this jacket last season. The fit is a nice body hugging athletic fit and i love how the hood is on the smaller side. Many hoods these days accommodate helmets, so if you are not wearing one, the wind rips thru. This hood fits nice and snugly allowing me to throw it up and ski with my ball cap on. I am able to hike on all but the hottest days wearing it making transitions smooth (not having to pull out my jacket to ski and put it away to hike). I would like the hand pockets raised a bit to allow access while wearing the hipbelt on my pack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Tony from Breathable, Flexible Love, Love, Love this coat. I have had itfor about a year now and I have to say that being a hiker that runs HOT all the time, this coat really regulates to my temp changes. It felt, at first, like it was going to be too cold, but now I put a base layer on underneath and thats it!!!! I have hiked in -10 with only a base layer on and been comfortable. Fits nice too! I am 6ft, 195 pounds, athletic build and I have a LARGE. One thing to watch for on the trail: Make sure you have a waterproof hardshell if you are going to be ouit for a while and there may be some rain/sleet/snow because the waterproofing won't hold up for ever. Probably have a 1hr window before you start getting cold KEEP PUSHING THE LIMITS BLACK DIAMOND!!!! Love you guys

Rated 5 out of 5 by Christopher from Great all around softshell This is the best softshell I've ever worn. Construction is high quality, it has been durable, and it looks great. Fit is slim- I would recommend sizing-up from your regular size if you plan to wear many layers underneath. I use this softshell for ski touring, alpine climbing, and hiking. It works very well for all of these activities, especially in mixed conditions, and I find that I only ever have to pull my hardshell out when the weather is really horrible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Darroch from Best softshell so far I've had this coat for 3 years now and it has been my favorite outer layer from the day I got it, definitely the best of 4 softshell coats I've owned to date. Pluses include: - generous arm length - trim fit - stretchy fabric - good water resistance for a softshell - versatility, good for high output or with a layer in winter, but light enough for summer use - beefy zippers - phone pouch inside the chest pocket - ability to snug the hood well right around your face - this is great on cold days and to minimize skin exposure to biting flies in summer - snug but stretchy cuffs that seal out cold in winter and flies in summer Only shortcoming beyond usual wear and tear after 3 years of hard use is that the rubber coating is starting to delaminante on the velcro tabs on the cuffs, but this doesn't affect their function. I'm 5'10" / 155 lbs and the medium fits me perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Christopher from Awesome soft shell! This soft shell has served me well out on the slopes with my friends and during some particularly difficult climbs. It fits well and the location of the pockets is perfect. There is plenty of versatility to this shell and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a top notch soft shell jacket for any winter excursion.
