Rated 5 out of 5 by Michael from Love it! Fantastic customer service to boot I did a lot of research before purchasing and the revolt was an easy choice since it takes alkaline batteries and I could also recharge it with an external battery pack if need be. It puts out a good amount of light and I loved the ability to gradually brighten and dim the beam. The headlamp comes with everything you need, including alkaline batteries. After about a year, the unit wouldn't charge the included rechargeable batteries. I assumed the batteries were bad, but contacted customer service. Without hesitation, they sent me out a whole new headlamp. I will be a black diamond customer for life. Don't hesitate on this one. It's a keeper!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Colter from Bright Upgrade When it was time to upgrade my headlamp, the Revolt caught my with the rechargeable batteries. It's great to be able to plug in the lamp the night before an adventure and know that my headlamp will be at it's brightest the next day. No more worrying about wasting money by changing batteries before they are fully spent. Features are great and the lamp is certainly bright enough for every use so far. My only complaint is the night vision mode (red light) doesn't put off a very large beam and isn't very bright. It works for reading something on a map or similar in low-light or no-light conditions, but doesn't function very well to walk along a trail.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Zach from Excellent Headlamp! I have been using this headlamp for personal and professional climbing and mountaineering this summer and fall. I have been super satisfied with this headlamp with one exception on a longer expedition. While I love the recharging feature this headlamp, you definitely have to be aware of battery life of this lamp on longer expeditions. Be prepared to bring an external battery pack or solar charger for trips of 5+ days. Not a huge issue but something to be aware of with this headlamp. Otherwise it is the go to headlamp for any short trips or to throw in the pack for emergencies. Great to be able to top up without buying new batteries!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Stew from Works great, held up well I've had mine for about 18 months and used it regularly for everything from walking the dogs at night to hiking at night in the pouring rain. It's held up very well, just like new, except that the rechargeable batteries won't take a charge any longer. Pros: Battery life is very good, for the size. Easily adjustable heat strap and tilt angle. USB recharging is easy. Switching between flood and spotlight modes, as well as dimming, is easy, and the lights are spot-on (pun intended) for brightness. Cons: I expected the rechargeable batteries had lasted much longer than the # of recharge cycles I've put them through.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Neil from Horrible battery life The headlamp itself works fine -- i.e. it gives out light -- but the battery life is horrendous. Based on the online product description I was expecting up to 80 hours of battery life, but using the provided rechargeable batteries this headlamp consistently drained through a full charge in 3-5 hours. I bought this headlamp for a multiday trip that involved nighttime climbing, and when this headlamp went out on the first night I ended up having to switch to my backup headlamp mid-rappel. Very disappointed, and kind of defeats any attraction there was of it being rechargeable.

Rated 1 out of 5 by bob from Does not hold a charge I followed the instructions for charging this headlamp but it has never worked properly. At first it wouldn't last more then a few hours and when I recharged it the red light never went away meaning it hadn't fully charged. At this point it doesn't work at all. Maybe the batteries were bad the first time, but to spend more money for some that might not work again, which based on many other reviews it probably won't...no thanks.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Stephanie from Great headlamp I like this headlamp a lot and use it as my spare headlamp. It's bright, but if you do mostly night work you might want to get something brighter, or that has a concentrated spotlight feature, like the Icon. If you can get your hands on an old BD Icon headlamp, that is way better than the newest version for the spotlight feature. It might also take you a bit to get familiar with navigating between all the different settings to go between flashing, normal, dim, or red modes. Other than that, it is a great headlamp, especially with the rechargeable option.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Peter from Disappointing rechargeable battery life Overall this is a great headlamp (I have had Petzls in the past). The benefit of recharging was a huge buying feature and I am extremely disappointed as I have had this headlamp for just about a year and the rechargeable batteries haven't latest (with less then 5 - 6 recharge cycles)! I will check with Black Diamond to see if I can get some replacement batteries. Please note that the low ratings of this review only reflect the disappointing recharge life otherwise this is a great headlamp!
