Rated 5 out of 5 by Kenneth Excellent Poles for Many Reasons
Recently climbed Mt. Fuji and found these poles were perfect for this climb and trip. They fit well in my suitcase and were relatively small profile on the back of my climbing pack when not in use. The poles extended and retracted easily and perfectly every time in all conditions. They are light but very strong holding my weight easily without a doubt and this was important in many cases where this support was critical. I followed the sizing chart and thought the poles were a bit tall when I received them but remember that your pole plants are typically behind you or before you ...so mostly at an angle ...so don't worry if seemingly too tall when you stand them next to you on hard surface. The rubber tips gripped well on stone or loose ground and wore very well. The poles took a hard pounding on lave rock climbs but never lost their grip on the surface and never felt unstable with my weight on them. Also, they look good too! I will probably use them skiing this winter as well after changing steel tip and snow basket also supplied with these poles. Bottom line - very happy with this purchase and highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jeffrey Great trekking pole, lightweight
While I've only had these poles on hand for a few weeks now, I can honestly say that I'm pretty satisfied. I've dragged them around the Eastern Sierra on some big alpine approaches, day hikes, and a 3 day 60 mile off-trail backcountry backpacking trip--they're holding up nicely.
A couple things to note, however. I'm 6'1 and bought both the 130cm (per the sites recommendation) and the 120cm (based on my personal experience) and ended up going with the shorter pole. Even then, I could probably go shorter. Unless you are walking on flat ground or plan on using them for skiing as well as hiking (there are other, better BD poles for backcountry skiing) then sizing them short is the way to go. Especially for mountain travel. But it's all a matter of personal preference.
As far a durability goes, I can see these lasting a fair amount of abuse. They definitely aren't going to last forever, but I figure if I can get three solid years out of them I'll be psyched. Carbon can take a beating but it has a very distinct line in the sand which you don't want to cross but inevitably will eventually.
All in all I think they're pretty rad. I dig the Z-Pole design. I never adjust my poles once I get moving, anyways. Easier to just have them ready to go when you need them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Gary great product
I used these hiking Waimea Canyon and the Na Pali Coast on Kauai last week. Great feel, light, very stable. Slick design, collapse/extend very easily and securely. I LOVE the fact they collapse down to an easily packable size. No more having to figure out how to check poles when flying. Only possible disadvantage is that they are fixed size, but I really don't see this as a problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Garrett Maybe the best trekking pole ever
I wanted to wait and write a review after I had a chance to put these through their paces, and I am absolutely thrilled with the durability, ease of use, and light weight of these poles. I have used them on Aconcagua, in Ecuador, throughout the US, and on a recent expedition to Nepal to attempt Dhaulagiri. These have excelled in all terrain (whether I am loaded down with a huge pack or not) without any problems at all. I am not easy on my gear and I have always been reluctant to go to carbon fiber because of fears of breaking, but these things can take a beating and just keep on trucking. You will not be disappointed in these poles - simply put, I don't think there's a better pole on the market for the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Ken Fantastic: light and quick
I use these poles extensively for summer guiding work. Like others, I remove the straps immediately. Also run them very short, most folks' poles are too long for mountain travel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by David Light weight and strong
These poles provide stability when I need it but also fold away nicely when not needed. They are amazingly light and strong. They do not collapse as do some other makes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Bubba Length of a ruler, weight of a pencil
Used the Z-poles all over the Canadian Rockies and Khumbu over the last couple of years. I love 'em, length of ruler and weight of a pencil. I'm on my second pair of 90 cms (I think that short is good). Fitting them totally into the pack with nothing sticking out like Sputnik is great. I get a kick every time I snap them together like a switchblade and say to my clients, who wrestle with three section twist locks, "Ready to trek!" Cool. I loss the wrist straps first thing (I do that with all of my poles: trekking and sking, except for my nordic ski poles).

Rated 5 out of 5 by Geepa Bomber and packable
These poles are perfect for hiking into a route, stuffing them into your pack, then pulling them out and hiking back to base camp. They easily fit into my small pack and don't even notice them while climbing. They are super light but still bomber.
