Description

A versatile, extremely stable pole with our game-changing Z-Pole technology, the Black Diamond Distance meets the everyday demands of day hikers, backpackers, thru hikers and trail runners. The sturdy 3-piece aluminum shaft aligns in a flash thanks to our speed cone deployment, which secures like an avalanche probe for increased rigidity. The Distance features a lightweight EVA grip with a mini-extension for choking up on steep terrain, and interchangeable rubber and carbide tips.

  • Aluminum shafts
  • 3-section Z-Pole folding design with speed cone deployment
  • Lightweight EVA foam grip and breathable, moisture-wicking strap
  • Non-slip foam mini grip extension for secure choke ups
  • Includes interchangeable, non-marking Z-Pole Rubber Tips, Z-pole Carbide Tips and stow bag
  • Stopper basket with shaft catcher secures folded sections
  • NOTE: Z-Poles do not accept, or have fittings for snow or powder baskets

Z-POLE TECHNOLOGY

Z-POLE TECHNOLOGY

Our Z-Pole Technology was born from our expertise in avalanche probes—by using a three-section shaft, a concealed inner Kevlar cord and innovative speed cones, our collapsible Z-Poles snap into place and lock with a single pull.

When not in use, a single push button releases the pole for compact storage.

How To Video: Black Diamond Z-Poles

Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 4 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazing When I got the box in the mail I thought BD screwed up. The box is too light to have trekking poles inside...nope they are THAT light! One pull of the top piece and they click all together. Couldn't be happier. Come apart just as easy. Wish the wavelock tips were easier to interchange out of the box, but no big deal. May 13, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fanstastic packable poles As I get older, poles have gotten more and more important to me, especially on long descents. The biggest problem I've always had is figuring out how to stow them conveniently when necessary, like during a rock a scramble at the end of hike. Well, there is nothing better than these Z-poles. They pack quickly and they pack small - and they weigh next to nothing. They fit perfectly in the wing pockets of my Kelty PK 50 and I can deploy them very quickly as well. At first they seemed a little delicate, but they've been just as tough as my Leki poles when used in the same way. I can't speak to their durability yet (used them 12 times over a total distance of 58 miles) but if they continue to hold up, I'll never use anything else. Great poles. By the way, you can't change the baskets but in 20 years of using poles I've never needed to change a basket. Highly recommended... May 12, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Poles I rely on Black Diamond products because they are sturdy, well crafted, well made, and perform well. In looking for a new set of poles to travel with, this set caught my eye. They are light, very packable and quick to set up. One qualm would be not on the part of BD, but on my choice. I am heavy on my poles and beat them up pretty good while snowshoeing and backpacking. If you want a more solid pole that can take dings and nicks because you're like me, I suggest another pair. Other than that, BD has again delivered on a high quality piece of equipment. March 16, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by First time user pleased. I'd never used hiking poles before, never gave it a thought. Hiking around around slippery, steep roads and smoking volcanoes in Costa Rica's national parks was difficult enough even with poles. These poles were lightweight, easy to pack and deploy, and probably saved me some nasty scrapes and bruises. December 8, 2013
