At a massive 135 mm underfoot, the Black Diamond Gigawatt is the biggest, baddest ski that Black Diamond makes. By combining an extended running length with a tip-to-tail, fully rockered profile, the Gigawatt achieves longboard-style, powder skiing bliss with enough edge underfoot for confidence on groomers and hard snow. That profile, combined with the weight-saving ribs and channels of our iconic Formula One Technology, allows this supertanker to still be responsive and quick edge-to-edge-critical for a ski this size.

  • 135 mm waist with our powder specialty geometry
  • Full-length, de-cambered Rocker for instant turn response
  • More surface area and usable contact length than the Megawatt
  • Poplar and birch Internal Wall Core Technology for added pop and stability
  • Formula One Technology with three ribs and Torsion Box Construction for maximum torsional stiffness
  • Optimal use: 90% soft snow / 10% hard snow

Rocker has moved from a niche, powder-specific design to a versatile tool that allows for easy turn initiation, smooth turn release and agile turn-shape variation in any condition. By tuning the rise and length of tip and tail rocker to each ski’s intended use, we’re able to dial in the exact character we want—from deep-snow specialists to hybrid fun-shapes. We have grouped our rockered ski profiles into three categories—Rocker, Semi-Rocker and Traditional based on the tip or tail’s rise length.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Like riding two steezy seal lions down through pow. These ski are massive to the majority and are set for heavier riders only. With this said I only weigh 150lbs and if you have strong legs and are already great at skiing these skis rip! Black Diamond likes having their skis mounted far back but I tossed the reccomendations and had them mounted true center. This gives unparalleled performance in the trees and turned these Cruise Liners into Helicopters. Yes they are heavy but suck it up, its just a better workout with an even better pair of planks to float on. I have taken them out on groomer days also and was stoked to find them not chattering and if you are used to buttering the whole mountain then these are awesome. I am impressed by their throw weight and balance and have been ACTUALLY LOVING THEM SPINNING 720's and 540's! Thank you for lowering the price BD, these are the sickest things I've ridden living in Juneau, Alaska! July 29, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Max floation! This is a great ski. I just picked up another pair to keep in the quiver. You'll need a quiver for this beast because on a hard crust or stiff crud you'll be handicapped. Not to the point you can't turn down these conditions but the ski is soft, rocker'd and fat so getting edge to edge is going to take some patience. However, if you ski it for it's intended purpose deep light pow then you'll be very happy to float, smear and glide down anything from glades to steeps. February 24, 2014
