Drawing inspiration from big-mountain powder lines, technical comp skiing and everything in between, the Black Diamond Element is a hybrid fun shape that turns any terrain into a creative blank slate. Based on the platform of the men's AMPerage, the Element features a re-worked flex profile to create a completely new ski engineered for women-no dumbing-down here. Its deep sidecut, 115 mm waist, full tip and tail rocker and underfoot camber add up to a floaty ski that's as comfortable sending backcountry booters as it is smearing through windbuff or arcing on groomers.

  • 115 mm waist, underfoot camber, and women's-specific flex for effortless transitions from powder to hardpack
  • Full tip and tail Rocker for playful, creative, high-performance skiing
  • Poplar and birch Internal Wall Core Technology plus an Ollie Bar in the tail for extra pop on take-offs and preventing wheelie-outs on landings
  • Formula One Technology with three ribs and Torsion Box Construction for maximum torsional stiffness
  • Optimal use: 70% soft snow / 30% hard snow

Rocker has moved from a niche, powder-specific design to a versatile tool that allows for easy turn initiation, smooth turn release and agile turn-shape variation in any condition. By tuning the rise and length of tip and tail rocker to each ski’s intended use, we’re able to dial in the exact character we want—from deep-snow specialists to hybrid fun-shapes. We have grouped our rockered ski profiles into three categories—Rocker, Semi-Rocker and Traditional based on the tip or tail’s rise length.

Rated 5 out of 5 All Around Fun I have used these skis for one season & am already looking forward to using them for the next few. I ski 80% backcountry & 20% in bounds. Surprisingly light for how well they perform in crud, hardpack, heavy snow. And oh are they amazing in the powder. For a phat ski, the elements are super diverse. They can make tight turns through trees or open it up & feel stable flying down an open bowl. You won't regret trying these skis! June 14, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by A women's ski that finally does it! In the past I've always had a hard time finding a women's ski that is balanced between being hard-charging but manageable. It seems usually women's skis are too floppy, or the shape is wrong. This ski is everything a woman looks for- it's light enough to tour, it's fat, playful, and skis AWESOME in pow, but holds it's own in crud and is fun on groomers too. It is balanced, easily maneuverable, yet stable. Ladies, it's awesome. June 7, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by So much fun! I love my Elements! they are so fun to ski, lots of life and great float. I use them as resort skis, and they can charge! I thought they would be a little heavy for the backcountry... I have used them 2.5 seasons and they are still handling very well, not noodly yet. They are actually very versatile, obviously best in powder, but they are really fun on every type of snow, they can even carve groomers and handle really good in crud and crust, very responsive and pretty stable at high speed (heavier is good sometimes). Cosmetics does seem to get better as you keep staring at them. I highly recommend them! May 20, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Skis awesome when I don't. This is my fifth pair of BD skis and by far my favorite. I graduated to these from the Starlet and the Velvet before that. The shape is called is fun shape because they are all fun all the time. From the choss to the powder, they can ski, which is good because I can't all the time. I'm not in love with the graphics, but I don't buy skis for the graphics. Excellent backcountry skis. Flexible and maneuverable, light, and resilient. I weigh in at 110lbs (the metric system confuses me) and I can turn 'em on a dime without having to drive every ounce of myself through my legs. They are like cheating. I should ride 155's, but I love the feel and the float of the 165's (I'm 5'1"). May 18, 2013
